At A&M, he reached out to Jimbo VERY early in the season (after UCLA loss), and had an agreement pretty much the entire season.

He reached out to Jimbo not long ago, again, which is what kick-started the extension A&M gave Jimbo.

I feel certain that he reached out to someone else almost immediately, and I bet he's already come to an agreement with someone. Maybe Franklin. Maybe Tucker. But it'll be a good hire. Both of those guys are good coaches.

Neither will be offered the job.

They'll join the club with Jimbo - coaches who wanted the LSU job but were never offered.

He most likely was in touch with people after our UCLA game. This has all been in motion for a while.

That depends on if Shad Khan and the Jaguars were willing to let our guy talk...

Certainly. That's how he does it. I'd be surprised if yall don't already have an agreement with someone.

The Coaching Changes Board is talking about some white whale and seems that some of the usual people that have been in the know in the past are saying that he's in talks with a very big name. We'll see how it plays out. I don't get too excited until I actually hear from someone credible that a deal is imminent. Even then we've been let down before just like almost every other fanbase.

Woodward has absolutely likely been putting feelers out through agents since probably before this season even started. However, as a fan, I know that the public won't know anything for at least a couple months, so I'm honestly going to try to ignore any of the articles and/or posts from "insiders" and just wait until they officially announce something.

Mel Tucker, after only one year at Colorado, took the Michigan State job. At the moment he accepted, Mel Tucker was affirming his commitment to Colorado boosters and fans, who were left frustrated and angry. A real Lane Kiffin moment.

To leave Michigan State in year 2 says nothing for his commitment to people and his own players. The guy would be on full mercenary display.

Franklin is one of my top choices. I think he would be very successful here.

Mel Tucker just doesn't seem like the type of candidate Woodward targets. Other than him coaching at LSU briefly 20 years ago, being black, and having a good record midway through 2021, nothing else about him makes any sense, especially with Woodward's track record of hires. He has less than 3 years experience as a HC and had a losing record in his first two seasons. I just don't see it.

Those are really good points. Woodward likes experienced coaches, for sure.

And frankly, everyone in the B1G east division looks like world-beaters right now. Mostly because Michigan State, Ohio State, Michigan, and Penn State have not played each other yet.

The B1G backloads the schedule for these rivals to keep their best football as relevant in the polls throughout the season as possible. Meanwhile, SEC west teams have been cannibalizing each other for weeks now.
