You know LSU posters on this very site have admitted that Woody offered Jimbo the LSU job, right?

You know those same LSU posters literally whiffed on every bit of information around this hire? No one knew shite. Woodward had every leak plugged months ago.

We're not laughing at the hire.

Well, we weren't anyway.

LSU fans won't take "congrats on the great hire" for an answer.

It's so weird. I've said Kelly is a great coach and a good hire like 100 times, and they just get pissier and pissier.

I think pretty much anyone could do Scott Woodward’s job.

Just throw $90-$100 mil guaranteed at coaches. You’ll get someone to take it.

former elite programs like Tennessee, Nebraska, FSU, and Miami should probably take note, then. That seems to be what it takes these days

that this keeps being brought up is so damn funny.

Yep, I wonder outside the COVID-19 waiver for ND to play in the ACC title game, how many other times in those 11 seasons of Kelly's 12 could he win a major Conference Championship?

Only on the rant would it be considered trolling to state that Kelly's lack of major bowl wins and his poor record against good teams gives me concern that a 90 million dollar guarantee was unwise.

I think SOG is right, the hires are very similar. Where I'm pretty sure it won't be similar is, LSU will not extend (and likely won't keep) Kelly if he essentially goes 8-4 over the next four seasons, never goes to Atlanta and doesn't make the playoffs. I can damn well promise you we won't be giving Brian any faux national championship trophies or printing shirts and making cups for winning a regular season game. Time will tell if the hires end up being similar in terms of results.

He is the right kind of person at the right time. We are in free fall. There is no damn reason you should go from 15-0 with a national championship to back to back .500 seasons. He may not be the long term solution (I doubt he is) but he will bring long overdue structure and discipline to the program. And that is what we need most right now.

To act like the pay landscape for coaches is the same now (when Kelly was hired) as it was nearly half a decade ago (when Fisher was hired) is disingenuous at best and more than likely just plain ignorant. Christ, Mel Tucker got basically the same contract at Michigan State and Franklin got extended similarly at Penn St. for doing nowhere near what Kelly has done. Your point is just idiotic trolling from a douchebag whose pissed his team got beat by LSU's JV squad last week.

Football is in my view 80% personnel, which is a function of recruiting, talent evaluation and coaching and development. I would say 20% is X's and O's and game day coaching.

Kelly was limited to what he could recruit at Notre Dame, he recruited very well given the academic requirements, his average classes over 12 years was about 12.3. Yet, he has 34 players in the NFL on 2021 rosters only behind Bama 53, Ohio State 47, LSU 46 and UGA 35.

So look at Kelly's recruiting rankings and look at the NFL production he has gotten out of those classes. That suggest what? 1) ability to coach and develop recruits and 2) ability to evaluate talent and project to college level.

I would say UGA has recruited consistently going back to Mark Richt top 8 and with Kirby top 3.

ND lost to those Bama, UGA, Clemson teams because the talent differential.

Kelly is smart enough to know to hire guys that first and foremost can recruit Louisiana. That will always be LSU's bread and butter. His coaching ability to me is among the best given what he has done with the talent he was able to recruit at ND. LSU since 2007 (using that date since Saban's tenure at Bama started there then) to 2021 has averaged about 6.5 in recruiting, that is all Miles Classes to 2016 and O starting in 2017 (most of which were already committed to Miles).

Miles was from Ohio, played and coached at Michigan, also coached at Colorado then HC at OK. State before getting LSU job in 2005. He never recruited LA before, and did very well.

If LSU recruits like they have since 2007, I know Kelly can coach them up and develop the players and he will not be out coached on game day.

And as we all know - you are what your record says you are.

LSU loves mimicking past SEC coaching hires it sames.

Kelly doesn't have any major bowl wins, and doesn't have any major conference championships. Jimbo has plenty of both.

As far as conference championships go, Jimbo only won 3 in 8 years of having the most talent every year in the shitty ACC.

None since 2014.

NOPE

We are laughing at Jimbo's mediocre performance since being hired at 8&4.

We are also laughing at 8&4 for thinking Woodward had any interest in hiring Jimbo, thus causing their AD to extend the underachieving bastard.

You're better than this.

Given this board only cares about national titles, and the obsession with how much coaches make per season.

LSU can officially STFU
