Interesting comparison.
Matt Like-former OL coach, known as a good recruiter with no coordinator experience with two former national coaches of the year as coordinators. I think it is safe to say Ole Miss could have won 3, possibly 4 more games this past season with better game day coaching.
Pittboss-former OL coach, good recruiter with no coordinator experience, hires two very good coordinators
Throw in the fact that Matt Luke was hired at Pitt boss's former job.
Will be interesting to see how this plays out

I’m bullish on the Pittboss. He’s a leader. Thinks he’ll do well

Yeah, I like Pittman, too. I think he would have stayed and retired with us, if the HC offer wasn't so good.

I think he will make the hogs a dangerous team.

Probably, he'll have more money and way better resources to get things done at Arkansas.

I would think so. Matt Luke's coordinators were dog shite outside of MacIntyre.

yeah, was shocked at Rich Rod and his lack of QB development.
He definitely helped with the run game but overall, was a huge disappointment.

It renewed my appreciation for Pat White's talents

Years two and three at Arkansas the pitboss should show some huge improvement. Briles and Odom are huge upgrades from what Luke had in Oxford.

Matt Luke was an Ole Miss frat boy coaching their team.

Pittman is a professional football coach that builds monster lines and has a ton of experience.

Pitt Boss is letting Briles and Odom have full control over the offense and defense. Taking the CEO approach.

Right. We are hoping to be more competitive in year 1 but this is going to be a long term rebuild. You don't recover from back to back 2 win seasons over night no matter who you are.

He will elevate the program better than Morris. I would not be shocked if the team this coming season will compete a lot better for bowl eligibility. Morris left some games last year that should have been wins. His staff is much better since he has more power 5 experience than Morris.

Does he even know his way around a grill?

I think he's a better recruiter, a better coach, and he hired better coordinators. So yeah, I think so.

8 wins is the Pitt Boss's ceiling. It will probably take 3-4 years to get there.

Arkansas should be happy with that.

Maybe. But he definitely knows his way around a refrigerator.

8 wins at least puts us in a position to attract a better coach if Pittman stalls out at that.

Besides, if Houston Nutt can win more then 8 games I'm fairly certain there are other coaches who can do so.

Kind of my thought on it. I don't mean Arkansas should be totally satisfied because 8 wins it's not the mountain top. But that will get Arkansas back to level, and it can climb from there.

Meh, not sure about this but for sure we'll have some stability if we need to upgrade the HC at that time.

Our best years typically were when we had a decent crop of high school players coming up the ranks.

Last few years it has been slim pickens, but we've gotten guys like Treylon Burks who are going to do big things.

Looking ahead, Arkansas HS football has some really talented players coming up(more than recent years). Hopefully we can get their commitment, and turn this program around.
