Will NIL change the balance of power in CFB?

I know some of the richer, underachieving programs like Texas A&M and Texas are literally banking on it but in my opinion, I think the effects will be minimal.
I could see a team here or there dropping off if their boosters don't support it but on a whole, players have always been paid, now it'll just be legal.

I think schools with a decent hold in major cities will take a step forward. Notre Dame in Chicago, USC, Miami, etc.
Another thing that might happen is a decent program like Wisconsin will rally the boosters for a few years to go into "win-now" mode and try to build a National Championship caliber roster

Yes it will eventually. I believe schools such as LSU will be hard pressed to keep up. The problem for LSU despite being the flagship university in the state, they don't get the nearly undivided polilitical support from the state and even their faculty the teams such as the Gumps, Texas, Aggies, and others. You think the Alabama govenor would ever make a statement that we may have to shutdown football to argue his budget?

Should be an easy transition for the schools that already have sophisticated bag men networks set up

Really??? Use your brain for something other than a paper weight!
You had a high school senior QB just announce he is going to skip his senior season entirely and enter college “Ohio St” because of “NIL’s”
That change enough for ya! It is the watershed NIL’s have just made sure the colleges with the deepest pockets are gonna be the most successful cause money talks and everything else walks

will eventually be 2 or 3 super conferences that will have all the $$$$$ schools in it ...everyone else will be a like a junior college ...college football /basketball is finished as we know it today ... O$U BAMA ND TEX will take the lead on FB super conferences ... in hoops UK KU O$U TEX UNC DUKE FLORIDA ETC ....

He was going to Ohio State anyway, that example doesn't support your statement at all.
I dont understand the thought process that richer schools will now be able to pay players more than someone like LSU.
Did the bag men previously operate under a cap?

There will be a massive surge for probably 3-5 years, but I think the market will correct itself. I don't see may NIL beneficiaries making a substantial amount of money for the corporations that choose to sponsor them.
Then you have the unintended consequence of an amateur athlete making bank off of teammates' sacrifices/play.
Just my take.

LSU can keep up if as I said the right political climate is in place. They were inconsistent as hell from around mid 70s until 2000 when Mike Foster was govenor. Foster definetely influcend LSU funding and bringing more money to support upgrades to facilities.

Walmart doesn't support athletics for the most part. Tyson will be a big player but let's be honest, we only have a couple of them in our area.
Schools in majors areas will benefit the most.. just like in baseball, teams in major markets have a huge advantage.. it's just a matter of time before we see it in college football.

I think you answered your own question. Texas has always had money with little to show for it.
That won’t change with NIL

They won't, outside of some very rare cases (Arch Manning, for instance).
It's basically just a way for boosters to legally pay players which has been going forever.
That's my point, if it just came down to money, Texas would never have a class outside of the top 5.
Is Texas currently just letting LSU outbid them because paying players isn't "allowed" but they'll open the floodgates once it is? Not likely.
