The AP gave the vote to 'Bama in '65. Losing bowl games didn't matter during that period. Arguing that would be like arguing the legitimacy of a BCS title. You can't apply today's laws to the past.


And '77 is all 'Bama, bitches. ND lost to Ole Miss, which was a team 'Bama shellacked. Entering the bowl season, Alabama was number 3 while ND was number 5. After 1 and 2 lost, and after Alabama ear-raped Ohio State (prompting Woody Hayes to say "We just lost to the national champs"), in typical Notre Dame fashion, they magically leapfrogged Alabama to number 1, stealing the title that year.
