Why would the SEC or the Big Ten want Miami?

I really don't see this team being as attractive as much people say.

Let's say the SEC is after ACC Teams: Virginia Tech is attractive: gives DC Market/Southeast team that cares about football. UNC/NC State is attractive: you want a major public university out of NC(Duke won't do this, this has nothing to do with basketball). And Clemson/FSU seem like a good package deal with their fanbases/markets.

Bam there's 4 teams right there for 20. Why would Miami who doesn't even have a fanbase be better than any of those 4? And they certainly aren't an AAU school that the Big Ten obsesses about either.

I don't see much. At the end of the day its a smaller liberal arts college that had a good football run 20-25 years ago.

If the SEC adds more, FSU makes more sense. Then the SEC would double dip in Texas and Florida, two massive states with growing populations.

They appear to be trending upward and they do have a south florida fan base. It may not look like much when the lose but the fans will come out if Christobal starts winning I say remain contiguous and take the whole state.

They do have a fanbase. Not one that shows up at the stadium on gameday, but a good national following that will watch them on TV. And TV trumps all

Maybe ESPN wants them in their portfolio and is willing to pay top dollar for their brand.

Every potential school has been awarded with a dollar value.

It's obvious that Kevin Warren is looking at "markets". He's not all that concerned about the product on the field - for cryin' out loud, he wanted to do what the Pac12 did and sit for a year. How did that work out for West Coast football ?

In Kevin Warren's mind, an lesser product in front of more potential viewers means "something". And lets call it what it is, potential viewers. Because his moves into Rutgers and Maryland didn't exactly corner the market of Baltimore, DC, and NY/NJ football viewers ... because they don't watch college football. They've got multiple pro teams in all seasons to watch.

Gents ... what has Mike Slive taught us about expansion ? Go where College Football is king. Take those areas. Those areas don't simply exist in the SouthEast. But they sure as shite exist in places without pro options or loyal pro followings.

Clemson and Fla St make sense for the SEC. Let the B1G waste their time in Miami, just like they're wasting their time in LA.

The SEC should only take Miami if it includes a deal to send Mizzou to the BIG.

I’ve heard that the SEC was close to adding a couple of big name schools (in addition to LowT and OU). That’s why the Big 10 added USC and UCLA.

They don't. Even in the U heyday in the 80's and early 90's they had a hard time drawing fans. The U was an enigma. Facilities didn't matter in the early 80's when the U was built. everybody's facilities were shite.

Nobody that averages 30K fans is gonna be an SEC member unless your name is Vandy and look for them to be questionable when super conferences come about.

I would take Cincinnati before Miami. Cincinnati is a cool city.

Yet you took Texas. Talk about not being relevant in football.

Miami is a much bigger brand than Va Tech.
