Hell...why would anyone give whatever to Albert means head coach just to talk to him? Football boosters and recruiters are stupid.

Because his dad wrote a check back to Funes for around $100,000 that’s why. It wasn’t a pay for an athlete as much as a straight up money laundering scheme. Neither are good looks for LSU though

You think calling you a troll is meant to hurt your feelings? I was just calling you what you said you are.

Yikes. Makes you think you've been ripped off when they could have had Cam for that much. Horrible ROI.

Is this what you are erroneously referring to :
" Right or wrong, on message boards like this posters such as myself will enjoy levity at the discomfort of others. "
In the modern world, thats just the nature of message boards. Maybe not on Tiger Rant, but pretty much everywhere else.
I didn't start this thread. I posted what MOST would consider a humorous comment.
I wasn't trolling. Apology accepted. ( I killz me ! )

Good work Jack.
My biggest concern is the 40k “unaccounted for”.
How does that happen?

"$180,000". Hmmm, that number rings a bell. Wasn't that the amount of money that was involved in the Cam Newton-thing at Auburn awhile back?

quote:yeah, he listened. cecil's rep kenny rogers was the one asking for the money. state turned them down and auburn said yes. state got butthurt and started crying foul. then cecil's abandoned church miraculously was "delivered" from being demolished by the city.
Cam's dad listened to an offer from Miss St boosters

Tsk tsk Rohan.. the CPA office which is contracted by LSU to conduct the periodic OLOL audit has a senior “partner” who is not an accountant but IS a powerful Democratic State Senator. His niece is the highly paid company person in charge of collecting and depositing funds in the OLOL LSU account, AND she edited the final audit for the company. She has a known gambling problem and she isn’t actually a powerful State Senator’s niece ... though she can actually hunt and peck (yuk yuk) type.
But this has nothing to do with the missing $40k. That was explained in a hand written note as being “administration expenses.” So nothing to see here...please just move along.
Gee Rohan...I thought you were savvy about our State. Even blatant recruiting corruption down here is itself internally corrupt.

Because we didn’t. That 180,000 would have been given to Cam Robinson if we were going to spend money

What would Albert Means command in today's market?

Why would a school pay $300,000 for Albert Means?

The $180,000 was paid by Funes to Vadal's father for work he supposedly performed at Funes' Foundation, not for recruiting Vadal to sign with LSU (he was already enrolled and on the team.)
Re: these recent reports of the NCAA conducting an investigation into payments made to family members of two former LSU football players: The payments were made by John Paul Funes, the former chief fundraiser for Our Lady of the Lake hospitals, who admitted in federal court Thursday that he embezzled more than a half-million dollars over a seven-year period and sent money to persons who did little to no work for the foundation he headed. According to The Baton Rouge Business Report, one such person on the receiving end of Funes’ stolen money was James Alexander, the father of former LSU offensive lineman Vadal Alexander who played at LSU from 2012-2016, who received about $180,000. The FATHER, not Vadal. And the father received the money not to get Vadal to come to LSU (he was already on the team), but for the work he had supposedly done for Funes foundation. The other recipients reportedly involved in the case include the mother and sister of former LSU quarterback Rohan Davey.
“Davey was not a student-athlete at the time of Funes’ payments to his family members, who later returned more than half of it to Funes at his request. Alexander was a player for the Tigers during the period when his father received the payments, exposing LSU to potential NCAA rules violations,” the Baton Rouge Business Report writes.
But the payments were not made as a way to get the players to LSU (Alexander was already there and Davey had been long gone) but rather a way for Funes to get rich. It sounds to me like Funes was either paying these people way too much for jobs they did, or paying them for jobs they didn’t do, and then getting them to return a large portion of the money to him. I haven’t yet seen any direct connection to LSU.
As stated in the article by The Baton Rouge Business Report, “It is unclear whether those who received money from Funes will be targeted by the feds, now that the investigation into Funes is essentially done. But sources familiar with the case say that is not likely and court documents continue to stress—as has OLOL, which first announced the embezzlement scheme last November—that Funes acted alone.”
