Why would Gus agree to this lessening of his buyout?

It’s now being reported as if this has been agreed to in principle. He will cover any of assistant coaches buyouts if he fires them. He had negotiated a contract that would potentially have him set and now he agrees for less. We don’t know how much less, but what is this guys thought process? Is he really that dumb?

To keep his job.

Auburn is easily the most up and down, schizophrenic power five football program that there is

To be able to help his employer hire better assistants?
Joe Moorhead took half of what we tried offering and told Cohen to put the rest towards assistants.

I think he still keeps it even if he would have told them to go frick themselves. If not, they write a check for $32 million. Is the guy crazy?

I guess he really is an idiot and knows he's reached his peak.

He really misses NW Arkansas and Cross Church right now...

Most think the agreement is premature and was leaked to see fan response. If Gus stays another year and crashes, the chances of getting another HC job are slim. Leave now and there are P5 Programs that will hire him.

Bert tried doing that, too. Would have been a good idea, but unfortunately, I think he put several hundred thousand more toward booze and Chinese takeout. I think more and more that his drinking and vices turned him into a ganeday and filmroom vegetable.

I think boosters came together willing to pay it, but he doesn’t want to lose his job. He loves Auburn. He is basically cooperating and praying he lands that Clemson QB.

Not sure I'd be hitching my horse to that wagon.

If so then he is even dumber than anyone thought.
His 32 million is guaranteed.
Agreeing to lowering your guaranteed contract is the dumbest thing anyone could ever do.

Because he has to play Georgia and Alabama again next year.

I see what you are saying, but he doesn’t care about the money. I think he genuinely wants to keep that job and if he refuses he gets booted immediately. This was a test and he passed.

Uh? I thought a lot of it was guaranteed.
So why settle for less? Do Auburn boosters have incriminating photos?
