Why were Florida fans booing at the start of their Tom Petty tribute?

What I witnessed was a completely trashy display of disrespect by their jort wearing cohorts. I thought Tom Petty was supposed to be like founder of UF or something? I can understand being upset for losing your homecoming but this was completely uncalled for. Both of Tom Petty's songs were great, and he should be remembered as such.

Why did Florida wait until the teams were lining up for the start of the 3rd quarter (and I mean after the kickoff) to do the Petty tribute?
There is this period called halftime where it makes a lot more sense. And guess what, it's also before the 3rd quarter, so it still kinda fits.

What Florida fans don't realize is that nobody gives a shite about their stupid tom petty tribute. It's not like he was an alumnus that maintained close ties with the school. He was just a central Florida boy that got the hell out as soon as he could and never ever looked back.
