Why is Music City Bowl payout nearly 2x higher than Outback and Gator Bowl?

I've always thought MCB was a shite tier bowl for 6-6 teams, barely better than Liberty and Birmingham bowl.
Whereas new years bowl in Florida (Outback and Gator) sounded much cooler with decent 8-4 teams playing.

The payout is in Dolly Dollars. Kinda like the 1970's Peso.

Because it’s a shite bowl and they need something to entice teams to go play it

All I know is I would beg to go to Nashville over Tampa or Jacksonville.

BootBarn bucks. Buy 1 pair get 3 free.

Who cares how much it pays out comparatively? We all split bowl purses equally among member teams regardless

Outside game in Nashville in late December can be pretty shitty

Far as I am concerned, money is the decider even with the split.
I would rather go to the bowl with the higher pay out and consider it the better bowl.

Why? Going to Nashville is a day trip to the same shitty winter weather. Going to Tampa or Jax is a mini-vacation in lovely weather.

I was always under the impression that the participating team got a 2/15 share of the pair while the rest of the sec teams each got a 1/15 share. I'm pretty sure it was at least like that a few years back.
Not a huge difference vs equal sharing but there's a little difference.

Payouts
Amounts shown are actual 2017-2018 (updated 8/19/18) total payouts per information available from the NCAA. Conferences have different methods by which bowl money is divided among its membership and participating teams. Some bowl agreements call for higher payouts to one conference than the other, depending on such factors as which is the "host" conference.
Total postseason payout decreased from $181,845,519 in the 2016 bowl season to $95,529,361 in 2017. If you include the College Football Playoff Distribution Policy explained below, the total payout was $560,594,435 (a $62,005,598 decrease from 2016). The final year of the BCS (2013) generated $309,900,000.
Playoff Revenue Distribution Policy
1) Each conference will receive $300,000 for each of its schools when the school's football team meets the NCAA's APR for participation in a post-season football game. Each independent institution will also receive the $300,000 when its football team meets that standard.
(2) Each of the 10 conferences will also receive a base amount. For conferences that have contracts for their champions to participate in the Orange, Rose or Sugar Bowl, the base combined with the full academic performance pool will be approximately $54 million for each conference. The five conferences that do not have contracts for their champions to participate in the Orange, Rose or Sugar Bowls will receive approximately $81.32 million in aggregate (full academic pool plus base), which the conferences will distribute as they choose. Notre Dame will receive a payment of $2.65 million if it meets the APR standard; the other three independents will share $928,503.
(3) A conference will receive $6 million for each team that is selected for the semifinal games. There will be no additional distribution to conferences whose teams qualify for the national championship game. A conference will receive $4 million for each team that plays in a non-playoff bowl under the arrangement (in 2017-18, the Cotton, Fiesta and Peach Bowls).
(4) Each conference whose team participates in a playoff semifinal, Cotton, Fiesta or Peach Bowl, or in the national championship game will receive $2.25 million to cover expenses for each game.
Additionally, certain conferences in the Football Championship Subdivision conferences will receive $2.53 million in aggregate.

Besides NY6 the Music City Bowl is the best travel of any bowls.. Give me Nashville and hang out for New Years. Fine dining, cheap dining, live music everywher, roof top bars everywhere, safe.. Honestly a fantastic trip.

If you don't live right beside it, it's great. For us, it's just Neyland 2b and about as exciting as a trip to Gatlinburg.
