Traditional an average program at best
Bad uniforms
Doesn’t traditional draw well
Bad recruiting state
Don’t give me that KC and STL market crap, i travel to those cities frequently for work and never see Mizzou gear. Those are Chief and Cardinal markets

Hard to believe their wasn’t a better dance partner to bring with A&M.

UNC
Fl State
Virginia
Va Tech
Maybe even Louisville or NC State

Money ?? money ?? money

Couldn’t agree with you more.
Absolute Garbage.
Outdated endzones, not good in any sport...
Honestly i dont think A&M fits well either but they are at least good with a nice stadium and good tradition. i liked it better when they were in the Southwestern Conference and we played them the first game every year.

Again Mike Slive was an incompetent moron. He locked the SEC into a bad 20 year contract with ESPN and expansion was the only means to break that contract. He was a fricking idiots and anyone who says otherwise is also one.

I would have to think Missouri fans feel the same way. I would feel like a stepchild. No real rival and I never win anything. Also most people in Missouri don’t give two shits.

I view Missouri as that school that whenever you’re scrolling a schedule or TV guide you say to yourself “Oh Missouri, I guess so”

UNC
They run the ACC.No way they'd ever accept 2nd banana in any other conference

quote:

Fl State
Had their chance in the 90's and said no.The SEC doesn't ask twice

quote:

Virginia
You really think they're more of a fit than Missouri? UVA is a pretty arrogant institution...I would highly doubt they'd want the affiliation

quote:

Va Tech
Not bad but are tied at the hip with Virginia these days

quote:

Louisville
Trash school and UK would never allow it

quote:

NC State

I think they'd be the best fit but let's not forget that the ACC has imposed HUGE exit fees after the Maryland fiasco.

KC area is the Chiefs first in sports for sure. At least we don't have "pussy" quarterback like Brees. What has he won besides being a social justice warrior.

We did not want to be in the SEC either but we don't have a choice now. We all just need to suck it up and deal with it. Trust me, we would rather be in the Big 10.

Because the SEC struck out on the better options, and they were committed to expansion to re-do TV contracts.

No one cares about gear sales. It is all about tv markets for tv contracts.

The main reason is that we wanted the Texas markets but did not want an odd # of teams.

Unfortunately, the best fits for SEC expansion are in states that are already represented.

Somewhat of an overrated narrative.St Louis and KC don't pull great CFB numbers and CBS NEVER restructured the TV deal after expansion although ESPN did.

They needed if to add a team with 2 objectives:

1. Expand the market
2. Not piss any current members off

No 2 eliminates a lot of the obvious options. My choice would have been West Virginia although I get it’s not exactly a big market option. LSU had just come off a home/home against them and the away game felt like a heated rivalry game. I thought they would have fit well.

Not a Brees fan but he won a Super Bowl.

The problem is the ACC made it next to impossible for the SEC to poach anyone and the schools the SEC really wanted were basically blocked by existing SEC members - Clemson, Fla St, Louisville due to existing rivalries.

I never liked the Mizzou fit. I thought Texas A&M was a no brainer as it gave you the huge Texas market especially around the Houston area. The only thing I can think of is Oklahoma or Oklahoma St might have been the next dominoes to fall but OU aligned with the Longhorns for better or worse.
