Let's say you were a chess player. You played chess 12 times and the only two times you lost were to the 2 greatest chess players in the world. Another player played 12 chess games and lost twice to two mediocre players. Who's better?
I may get flamed for this silly post, but I'm just trying to make this simple for you since you have such a hard time understanding it.

ETA: I actually think Wisconsin is better, I'm just trying to give a logical reason why Arky is ranked higher.

Well I understand the analogy even if it's somewhat faulty due to the fact that chess players play in real tournaments and what we have is an assortment of conferences and bowls and arbitrary discussions like the one we're having now. And I'm okay with that, I understand the reason for the current structure.

But if we're relying on this "who do you think is better" argument at this point, there is little doubt that I would pick Wisconsin all day in this game. I'm still uncertain how VT is ahead of Clemson even with Clemson's additional loss.

Arkansas' best win was against #9 South Carolina. Wisconsin's best win was against #17 MSU.

Arkansas beat 2 ranked opponents. Wisconsin beat 3.

Wisconsin also lost to a horrid Ohio State team, and has a pretty bad SOS (highest ranked team played is #17).

I'd say all those things considered, we DESERVE to be ranked higher. I don't know if we are actually better than them, but they shouldn't be ranked ahead of us.

Don't you want the teams you play win or lose to be perceived as good? Why bash Arkansas all the time. If we suck so bad then what good is that win for you? I mean, do you want it to be perceived as Lebron James dunking on a 5 year-old girl or do you want it perceived as Lebron beating Kobe? Beating "inferior" opponents doesn't make you look all that great now does it?

I've always thought it was so weird to make light of an opponent. Win or lose they should always be considered great in order to bolster your own image.

I think this is a good argument. I'm not as sold on South Carolina and not as down on OSU, but their records are what they are.

Losing only to LSU/Bama is more impressive than losing only to MSU/tOSU.

I've truly never heard of any fan base take such pleasure in quality losses. So all notre dame has to do to get back to glory is schedule the toughest teams possible and lose them all.

When do I bash Arkansas all the time? Aside from a comment I just made on another thread. I didn't even flame y'all for being little shits for weeks prior to our game after we beat the shite out of you.

This is only true when you need help from other people. Hence why Alabama fans want to chant SEC in the stadium before the NC game. They know the only reason they made that game is due to the SEC strength and riding the coattails of LSU. I don't want to chant SEC because we got there on our own merit, not the merit of others.

But Wisky looks like a better team than Arky...isn't that what it's all about?

I wasn't taking pleasure. I was giving a logical reason why they were ranked higher.

I love how we now judge teams sole based on who they lost to.

Who did Arkansas beat? Its not like they lost close games to the 1 and 2 teams.

Yeah i think wisky would beat ark by 10 points, but ark might deserve a higher ranking.

Which is an entirely different analysis than that applied to Bama. But what the hell.

It is a logical reason, although I recall a time when teams also had to win games and not justlose impressively.

Well you could argue that no one would keep it close against these 2 teams.

They won their conference. They pass the "eye test".

Nope. Completely valid and good conversation until you showed up to conjure up notions of pre-LSU game posting.

So you couldn't figure out for yourself why a team that's lost on the road to #1 and #2 is ranked ahead of another 2 loss team that didn't lose to the #1 and #2 teams on the road?

Is that what you're saying?

They sure do. Wisky is a good looking team with a great QB. They look good, and I've learned today that resumes don't matter when a team looks good.

Considering you basically finished fourth in the SEC and they won their conference, combined with the way in which they lost and the way in which you lost, albeit to the two best teams, yes, it wasn't quite the slam dunk. Combined with Herbie and ESPN selling me on ranking teams based on the "eye test" of who I subjectively think would win and yes, it's easy to come to the conclusion that Wisconsin has no business being ranked below Arkansas. Your team is horrible.
