Why is Alabama 2020 an Asterisk for some?

They played TWO less games than a standard CFP championship season of 15. One of the games not played would have been against a late season FCS team or lower-tier FBS team. The USC OOC game was scrapped for obvious reasons. Plus, that’s a victory alone for the Trojans since they were spared a beat down.

Alabama played 11 SEC games.

Alabama played a complete season. No Asterisk.

Had Ohio State won it all, that would have been an Asterisk. No 8-0 team has been the national champion since 1941 Minnesota.

Covid shortened season with extraordinary circumstances, empty stadiums, etc. it’s an asterisk year.

Bama's opponents really werent effected by Covid until the National Championship Game. And because of injury, Bama was waaaaay more shorthanded than OSU. But all of that doesnt fit the whiners narrative

This is such an odd narrative considering that Bama's 2 hardest games in the regular season were at home without the benefit of a crowd

Alabama didn’t play teams with full rosters.

Too many starters didn’t play. If LSU would have won the whole thing, I’d call it an asterisk too.

Because many team played games with many starters and subs out with Covid or Tracing Protocol. You notice the schools and the leagues do not post those stats for games. They are trying very hard to legitimize this season in order to collect the checks. Bama had very few players who missed any time, while most of the SEC had players out for extended time or had to cancel games. UA was one of the biggest Covid Hotspot Campuses in the Country in the Fall, yet how many players missed games? If Saban wasn't symptomatic, he wouldn't have missed a game.

Alabama was the best team in the country, period.

Because the entire season was screwed from the beginning. Everyone knows it. It's not something fans have the power to add or not add. It's a matter of just recognizing that the season will be viewed differently over time due to the circumstances and rightfully so.

Because every team they played had opt outs and Covid tested athletes that sat out and they had none. Hey I’m not knocking Bama for winning it’s not their fault but at the same time it’s not a true test of head to head competition.

Less games and less starting athletes to face. The season was just all bullshite!

The truth hurts

It’s a trolling tactic. Truth is EVERY college coach who played this year did an outstanding job of managing a team in the most difficult of circumstances. I understand the argument about should Ohio State or a different team have been in final four BUT none of what happened to Ohio State was them ducking anyone. Most of our grievance against Ohio state was against the Big Ten administration and snobbery of looking down on southern colleges and people in general as being beneath them. This was easily Nick Sabans greatest job of coaching since coming to Alabama. He went above and beyond with testing and keeping his players safe from the pandemic.
