Wouldn't they need to do that asap? Can they?

I’m not sure about current rosters but they certainly have blown up the next 2 recruiting cycles.

That’s the reason you’re seeing Big 10 and Pac 12 immediately pivot hard to “no look at all these plans to play in the spring. We’re super serious about playing the spring!!” And they have all their media stooges endorsing these plans as valid and genius. Even though none of them address the central flaw of the spring plan, that Covid-19 will still be here in force.

But it’s clear the Big 10 thought the SEC and ACC would capitulate and now they’re trying to scramble to fake a real spring season so they don’t hemmorage players and recruits

Because it’s not happening. The idea that all these elite players would come flooding into the SEC was a foolish pipe dream

There probably isn't very much room on rosters to add very many transfers. Also they'd have to get NCAA approval to play immediately, and it wouldn't surprise me if the NCAA has already sent out word that they won't be granting immediate eligibility for transfers for this.

Because both conferences waited until the last minute to prevent transfers.

Most teams aren't going to have open scholarships a month before the season starts.

Plus there's the whole learning the playbook and developing chemistry thing. Neither happens in a short time.

It wouldn't be a ton of players. Seniors that need to play to be noticed for the draft and maybe some juniors trying to do the same thing. But let's not forget they would be coming into a conference loaded with nfl talent and it may not make sense to come in and lose draft stock

I hope we play as much as the next guy but as of today there’s no guarantee the SEC and ACC won’t cancel as well. Is it worth the trouble of trying to transfer only for everything to be cancelled?

Might get a couple but they would have to be in very specific circumstances and be able to get the wavier. Plus all the B1G coaches are telling them that we really aren't going to play and that they will have a season in the spring. By the time they figure out its bullshite it will be too late. It's going to kill their recruiting though.

According to several talking heads at ESPN,the NCAA is to meet this week to specifically discuss the issue of transfers. Too,say Fields decides to transfer to an SEC team. And the SEC subsequently caves & does not play. Fields is screwed.

Football won’t have transfers

Basketball is a different story. If I was a player in the big ten and I am watching this shite show I’d be thinking about it now. Especially if you are grad transfer

I don’t know how this kills big ten recruiting. Any incoming player isn’t going to give shite

Now if the big ten gives everyone an extra year of eligibility than yes that could hurt recruiting. Why would you go there

Don’t try to explain this on the Rant. Like SEC teams would have roster limitation miraculously disappear. LMAO.
It just like the idea that Nebraska and tOSU would seek OOC opponents this year. Everyone was posting about Frost and Day were “swinging big dicks”. All that talk was shut down today. They’re not going rogue versus the richest conference in college sports and never were.

There are only so many scholarships available, right?

yes, but with a few new head coaches, its not uncommon for roster turnover. especially considering most of the players in the B10 are better than what Odom was able to recruit.
