Really shameful a once proud football program has laid down and given up against a superior program. Disgraced in the Red Stick.

LSU is trying harder than anyone. Success hasn’t come in a while.

Sad thread, but not and unexpected one given last night's meltdown by the bullpups.

I agree with this troll. Everyone just automatically assumes a loss to Bama now...boy how times have changed.

Really easy for the LSU fans to talk shite from home for the second year in a row. They’re out in force since they have nothing else to do except look forward to losing to Bama again.

Meltdown or not. They prison raped lsu year before last and whiteboots could barely beat them in so called "death valley" last season.
When it comes to football, lsu and Moo U are in the same competitive strata. Two teams fighting for best of the mid pack and that's just how it is.

Yeah it is.
Especially when you barely beat a group of five team, without it starting quarterback to get there. A team that didn't belong in the fiesta bowl to begin with and was only there as a token measure.
LSU won the affirmative action bowl.

Real answer: because you can have a successful football team without beating Bama as shown by their end-of-year ranking.
Also, and this is just my opinion, it seems like the general consensus that Les was run off for a lack of success against Bama was overstated at the time. Coach O has had results very close to what Les could produce in the Saban era and the natives in Baton Rouge seem more satisfied with O than they would be with Les given the exact same record/results.
I think the problem with Les was how stubborn he was, like the fact that he refused to change his offense, combined with the fact that he followed Saban who set a very high bar. I feel like if Les would have been willing to give the same lip service O does to progress vs Bama and overall he might still be coach at LSU instead of O. When Les promised to change the offense finally and then didn't even a little it was the last straw.
At the end of the day football coaches basically have to be the major of a large community and part of their job is managing the expectations of the fans in that community to at least pretend to show the same concerns they show much like politicians. Les wasn't willing to do that given the safety net he had, and now he is coaching at Kansas because he refused to live up to the political expectations foisted on him.
