Why has Dak been so much better than Tebow in the NFL?

Was Tebow only good because he played on some of the most talented teams in history?
Maybe not, but it's hard to deny that Dak is just a better passing talent at this point.

I think Dak Prescott being what he is in the NFL is actually shocking. He’s much better and more advanced as a passer than I ever thought he would be.

I agree. He's gotten better and better.

Dak always had more natural arm talent than Tebow, Tebow never had an NFL caliber arm, TBH in this Era of Tempo based offenses, Tebow would have a hard time starting on the College level for an Elite Team, you don't see Offenses in 2020 that are designed for the QB to only throw 20 times per game
Also Dak's hands measured out at 10.5 or 10.75 inches , among the largest hands among NFL QBs, up there with Russ Wilson
Tebow has tiny hands like Joe LSU --- the soon to be NFL bust in Cincy

Just like Mahomes, the bust in Kansas City.

Sorry pal Ma-home-boy has normal sized hands for an NFL QB, not tiny hands like Joe LSU

Mahomes has 9.25" hands.
Size doesn't matter, bitch.

Les didn’t offer him at QB, only athlete. Oh the good ole days

Tebow is just another example of a QB that would not work anywhere else other than Dan Mullen.
See Chris Relf, Keytaon Thompson, and even Nick Fitzgerald for further proof of that trend.
This isn't a discredit to these guys. Just kinda shows how scary Mullen can be if he ever gets another QB even close to the caliber of Dak at Florida.

Dak doesn't have a jacked up left arm throwing motion, he's more accurate and honestly, I believe that if you have a coach and/or owner that believes in you... you can be successful.

He was faster, had a stronger arm, and was more accurate.
I remember listening to buster olney report on Tebow’s training camp with the minor league let’s team and he comments how he was faster than most baseball players and that his arm was below average for an outfielder. He went in to say how both of these things really surprised him as he was a quarter back and thought he would be slower and have a stronger arm.
My first thought was damn buster really does live under a rock

quote:Agreed. He always played with a lot of heart. But, outside of Alex Smith, the Mullen QB hasn't translated very well to the NFL.

Dak was always an impressive competitor in college. Seemed like a good kid, as well. Glad to see him doing well.

Tebow's throwing motion doesn't lend itself to him being a consistent QB in the pros. Dak doesn't have great arm strength either, but he didn't have that issue

Tebow's throwing motion was always bad. He had the same problem as Manziel at the most basic level:
A set of bad habits you could overcome with raw physicality at the collegiate level that becomes too great a liability at the professional one.
Even against really good college defenses you can succeed despite some terrible habits or mechanics. In the NFL those same things will get you slaughtered.

Since no one else besides OP has said it:
Yes, I think that Tebow played on some very talented Florida teams and that had a lot to do with it. He was an insanely good competitor and did a fantastic job leading a talented squad.
Meanwhile, Dak took a bunch of 2 and 3 star recruits to #1 in the country. His decision making and arm were both better than Tebow's. I would guess (obviously not sure though) that that 2014 State team is the least-talented #1 team (based on recruiting rankings) in the modern era. Certainly at least out of the SEC.

If you saw Daks progression as a passer between 2014 and 2015 you wouldn’t be as surprised. He really became more efficient and made some throws in 2015 that were impressive NFL caliber throws.

the greatest disservice to tim tebow, is the first coach that said screw it he's good enough i'm not going to mess with his throwing motion.
he has a side arm delivery, people that throw baseball style can work on their throwing motion all day long but under pressure they always revert back to it.

While Dak is not a natural thrower of the ball he’s still much better passer than TT was.

It was bad. He started his passing motion at his hip. You're supposed to start at your chest. That quarter of a second is the difference between college and the NFL. The Broncos tried to fix it but it never took
