Because we eat a lot more chicken, and everybody knows chickens are pretty fast.
In the north they eat a lot of cheese biscuits with gravy, which really slows a person down.

Environment & choices determine these things much more than ethnicity, as far a genetics go they do have some impact but not as much as choices & environment

if more white kids grew up with jj watts genes you would have more big fast white DL. But his genes ares pretty rare (amongst the white folk at least).

yes it is the hot weather, the chicken and greens,
and running more when young, nothing to do with race. White kids just dont run enough when young or eat enough greens and chicken.

Environment and choices is what made JJ Watt the player he is, genetics merely created the potential for him to be an NFL Star, there are tons of white guys with JJ Watt's size but don't come close to making a HS roster much less the NFL

Another reason, probably less so, is that football in Ohio for example has no spring ball. Kids just aren't going to be as developed if they aren't on a program designed to make them bigger/faster/stronger all year. JJ Watt for example is a beast (as is his brother), but JJ was a failed TE early in college who had to walk on a Wisky. If he had gotten the proper training and nutrition in HS he may have been a big time player at a big time school.

Until the late 80s, an equal percentsge of white and black kids in eighth grade could dunk.
Easier entertainment choices pushed white kids out.
It's why poor whites typically are still athletic.

The south produces athletic, big men. Chaisson was from South Carolina. Danielle Hunter was from Texas. Barkevious Mingo was from West Monroe. And that’s just 3 guys just from LSU that was off the top of my head. Texas to the Carolinas got some big, mean, fast mother frickers.
