It stems from the same reason Mandingo fighters down here tended to be quite a bit better than their northern counterparts

The little rock metropolitan area has a lot of football talent. The problem is they don't play football or any sports at all except basketball. So other parts of the state has to pick up the slack.

Slowly that appears to be changing as little rock public schools are trying to turn a corner. They will have a new high school in the area that will combine 3-5 school districts.

Also northwest Arkansas is approaching 600,000 and are producing more division 1 prospects now and in the future.

Real answer is slavery and poverty.

The south cares more about football and makes a bigger deal about it. So more kids are pushed in to it by their dads and getting attention in school. That combined with us eating more, puts on more weight to already athletic kids.

If we know, why the thread? What has been accomplished? Not every thought needs a thread.

The real answer is actually “breeding”, but it’s a little more complex than that. Look at where the best talent comes from, it’s from areas that historically had huge plantations and demand for the most well bred slaves. These slaves bred with other well bred slaves and eventually these freed slaves stayed in the areas raising generations of children eventually becoming the top talent pools for football.

Guys, it's 2020. Everyone knows that race isn't real

There are no differences between black and white people

It's the cornbread and collard greens. Cornbread makes you bigger, collard greens makes you faster. Both foods are common fare in the south.

I agree with race but it's more than that. The South, as well as Ohio and places like Western PA (though they have lost so much population), have great football infastructure in terms of high school and youth coaching. Kids learn how to play football generally the right way from an early age, and it matters to their communities.

It's the same reason so many baseball players come from certain regions disproportionately to other regions.

IMO, it's more about environment and choices rather than ethnicity

Your opinion is naive and ignorant. It’s all about ethnicity.

Why are all the top world class 100 meter times posted over the past 40 years all from Western African Decent Men?

Why are all the top world class Marathon and 10,000 meter times posted over the past 40 years all from Eastern African Decent Men?

It’s all about ethnicity.

They love to eat. If you want the best cuisine head south, now I didn't say healthy cuisine. 7 out of the 10 most obese states are from the south. Fried foods, biscuits and gravy, bacon, etc.

West Virginia (38.1 percent)
Mississippi (37.3 percent)
Oklahoma (36.5 percent)
Iowa (36.4 percent)
Alabama (36.3 percent)
Louisiana (36.2 percent)
Arkansas (35 percent)
Kentucky (34.3 percent)
Alaska (34.2 percent)
South Carolina (34.1 percent)

It’s also a cultural thing; there’s a lot of pride around being physically large and strong in the South for the purpose of playing on the line in football. Can’t always control ones access to educational opportunities but oftentimes families can control what they feed their kids and how they condition them to use their size as an advantage. Genetics certainly contribute but I’d say culture and southern high schools having better strength programs as a big reason
