Why does the Alabama basketball team feature so few native Alabamians?

No troll, serious question.

I realize that Alabama isn't really a basketball state but its odd that only 4/19 players on the roster actually come from Alabama.

Hell, 3/19 Alabama players come from foreign countries.

At first, I thought maybe it was an SEC thing (football is king), but nearly half of Arkansas' players hail from Arkansas.

Does Alabama just not produce much basketball talent? I believe Trendon Watford is from Alabama but I don't really follow basketball recruiting to know where the talent comes from.

I believe Auburn is something like 5/17 Alabamians.

I did notice a shite ton of players from Little Rock on various rosters.

Why do so few players on the LSU roster come from Louisiana?

Only 4 of 13 are from Louisiana.

Strong arse offers.

In all honesty, I looked at that too but 4/13 is a somewhat higher percentage than 4/19.

So LSU has FOUR in-state players and Alabama has FOUR in-state players, but it's unusual for Alabama?
Just how big an idiot are you?

Big enough that it takes its own thread to sound it down.

Alabama has 6 more players on their roster.

Its also assumed that LSU has been buying players so it'd stand to reason that they'd have less local players.

Its just a question, not sure why you're taking it as some sort of slight.

Put it this way: If will was recruiting idiots, sidewalker would get the strongest assed offer of all.

I think that in a lot of cases, HS players from Alabama have been too good, and have gone to play at the powerhouses.

This from a poster who insists that this weekend will be the "first weekend of the tournament."

This would make sense. Thanks for the serious response

Actually, it's exactly the same percentage, and I'm going to wait and see if you are astute enough to figure out why.

edit: aww, frick it. You'll never figure it out. The NCAA limits men's basketball to 13 scholarships. Alabama has 19 on its roster because that includes walkons. They only have 13 scholarship players, just like LSU.

Nope.

Explain to me how 4/13 would be the same percentage as 4/19. That makes no sense.

I knew you wouldn't be that astute. Our 19 includes 6 walkons. Subtract the walkons and it's the same. LSU shows no walkons on its roster.
