Why does it seem like there is no hype behind this Bama-A&M game?

3 years ago there was hype because while Johnny had put up big numbers to that point he hadn't really done it against a team worth a shite yet and lost to the only 2 games he played. It was kind of a prove-it game
2 years ago... that's all the board talked about in the offseason.
Last year A&M was on a 2 game losing streak and Bama recently lost to Ole Miss so there wasn't much hype but even then it seems like there was more hype for that one than this one.
What gives?

I feel pretty sure that people realize that Bama is just not that good. The Georgia game gave me some false hope that our QB had started to get the hang of things and then we played Arkansas…and Oh well.

Bama doesn't need to hype anything. They are every teams' biggest game of the year.

kinda felt the same way about bamas game against the ACC two weeks ago if you ask me

Expecting Bama by 10 or 14... Never know in the SEC though! Just don't see A&M being THAT good... See them being overrated, yet many fan bases could say the same thing about LSU

I think story has been written before. Either Alabama blows A&M out the stadium or Chavis effect, A&M is up by 4 with 2 minutes to play, Alabama has ball on its own 1 and needs a TD to win the game and BTW has 0 timeouts left. Alabama ends up winning by 3

Might be because Spurrier quit, Sark was fired, and Grier was suspended, all in the week of the game. Bama and aTm fans are plenty excited about it. But it does lack the hype that came with Bama being in the middle of a dynasty and aTm lacking JFF. Last year's annihilation hurts it as well.

Alabama was undefeated number 1 defending national champions. Any game with a chance that they could be knocked off was hyped.

I personally think it will be a great game but the fact that 'Bama has an early loss for the second straight year has something to do with the lack of hype. A victory over a good aTm team will be just what the doctor ordered for the Tide. Conversely, a victory over the Tide by the Aggies will have the talking heads hyping them as a shoe-in for the playoffs.
