Why do we need to expand further?

No reason to after Texas and OU join. We don’t have to get into a dick measuring arms race with the B1G
We already have the best fan support, the best facilities, plenty of money, and the nations top talent in our backyard. No southern recruit is gonna all the sudden decide to go play for a B1G team because they added a bunch of liberal twats from California
Any team left that we could add will just dilute our product and I don’t want teams that aren’t a fit for southeastern culture

When do people/corporations stop at "plenty of money"? Never. If adding teams makes more money, they'll be added.

What about when the B1G grabs Clemson and FSU because the SEC thought they didn’t need to expand?

Who gives a frick? Why do we need them?
Greed is about to ruin college football.

B1G and SEC go to 24 teams each. They have their champions play each other and call it the national championship. These 2 conference make all of the money, get all of the good recruits and every other CFB team is marginalized.

Exactly. We already have the biggest-dick-per-member already.
Let the big10 expand beyond its best size, then contract.

Yep. Get them before someone else does. It’s an arms race now. Doesn’t matter what it’s doing to the game or how the fans feel. It’s always about money.

And, like it or not, "plenty of money" is determined by your wallet relative to your environment. The SEC and Big Ten rake in more cash than any other conference now, but if the SEC were to stand pat while the Big Ten gets the West Coast/Notre Dame/Duke/UNC then all of a sudden their conference is significantly outpacing the SEC in terms of revenue.

How about let’s help them pack. That would help open va and nc schools to sec.

I would only be in favor of expansion if we got Hawaii and UNLV (for the road trips).

Rich Mullins summed it up pretty good in his song "One Thing"
"Everybody I know says they need just one thing
And what they really mean is that they need just one thing more"

Who cares? Also, why do you care what your school generates via the athletic department? It's chump change in comparison to the academic side of the university, and if we're being honest, if they really wanted to, all of the major universities can write their own checks for facility upgrades (or they can solicit massive donations, etc.). All of this is nothing more than a pissing contest, and you're acting as if the schools somehow didn't exist prior to the massive contracts from TV.

I care about what Tennessee generates in terms of athletics department revenue because, at least in terms of football, Tennessee has struggled mightily for the last twenty years in spite of fairly significant financial advantages; if it's this hard to reemerge when you're well-heeled, how much tougher is it going to be if Iowa and Minnesota are pulling in oodles more money than you and spending that on improving their programs?
I could not possibly care less about academic spending, knowing full-well how my school's perception (yours, too; they're fine southern flagships, but a far cry from UNC/Cal/Michigan) is unlikely to change without some kind of cataclysmic event, and it's very clear that the SEC will never be able to touch the Big Ten Academic Alliance. I'd prefer that the SEC take whatever steps necessary to continue being the preeminent power conference in terms of athletic prestige and, ultimately, that means making sure another conference doesn't start lapping you financially.

Anyone asking "who cares" to revenue doesn't understand what's happening

You can't see what's going on. There are talks that being held behind the scenes. USC and UCLA didn't bolt because they wanted a 3 hour time zone difference.
Three super conferences are being discussed in private between presidents and AD's. 3 super conferences of 20 teams that will resemble the NFL model. The 60 winningest, revenue producing, tv watched, championship winning schools will be in. If you start to struggle with attendance or lack of eyeballs on TV, you will be replaced. There are SEC schools that will be watched carefully. Schools like state, ole miss, Vandy will have a short leash. I don't care what they do in friggin baseball. Football will drive this bus. Baseball is a non factor in this and basketball is barely a factor.
