Why do Bammers love Pruitt so much?

Because they believe he will be their next coach? Him or Cristobal? Obviously no chance that Dabo, Riley, Day or Smart would jump ship.

I imagine it's like UGA fans were with Kirby when he was the DC at Bama.

I guess Pruitt has not done anything as a HC yet. It's all wishful thinking.

Then you can use Bobo as an example. He's done nothing but he's still loved by plenty of UGA fans.

When Pruitt left for FSU, it felt like there was something missing with the Saban/Kirby defenses.
Once Kirby left and Pruitt came back, the defenses seemed more aggressive and the players fed off of it and the desire to make plays once they created the turnover.
Also the simple answer - we want Pruitt to have success at Tennessee because he's the no brainer when it comes to replacing Saban - him or Cristobal. Cristobal has had success; Bama fans want the same for Pruitt, minus actually beating Alabama.

He had a fantastic senior season for us with some all time memorable wins and was the best oc we've ever had.

No one that I know does. They want Cristobal when Saban is done.

TRUE

Very TRUE; and re-watching the UT vs Bama game last year, the D intensity he generates regardless of talent mismatch is evident. Plus, he is a top notch recruiter.

...no coach is worth that desire.

He's no Phil Fulmer.
Gumps remember him from his days as Hoover's defensive coordinator. He worked his way up at Alabama, earned DC roles at FSU and Georgia, came home to Alabama and then took over at Tennessee.
He's easy for Gumps to root for, even if he is at Tennessee.

Hmm he was a great DC for them and I think is from there?

He sure did. I was talking about him doing nothing as a head coach just like Pruitt though.

He’s the best coordinator Saban’s ever had and is one of them

EVERYTHING was missing. Saban and Smart were lost without Pruitt in the pressbox. Quickly and correctly recognizing the offensive personnel changes and relaying to them the defensive changes that needed to be made on the field.

I thought Sabah was gonna coach until 2030. What’s all this talk about

Kirby seems to have no problems with his defense without Pruitt in the pressbox.

Best defensive coordinator we've had under Saban.
We love the damn conehead.

Except on 2nd and 26.

Why do Bammers love Pruitt so much?
(a) Good ole boy born and raised Bammer who basically chose to come to Alabama via transfer from MTSU when he knew he wouldn't play much just because he wanted to be on the roster at Alabama
(b) Was a high school coach in Alabama
(c) Was plucked by Saban from high school and learned everything at Alabama - basically rose on merit alone from a coach on Sand Mountain to a D2 program to the biggest high school program in Alabama to player personnel at Alabama to Secondary coach at Alabama to Defensive Coordinator at Florida State, Georgia and Alabama to Head Coach at Tennessee.
(d) Was a great position coach and coordinator for us
(e) Is about as "one of us" as Orgeron is at LSU
(f) Gene Stallings loves him
I mean, why the hell wouldn't we? I'd prefer he succeed juuuuuuuuust enough at Tennessee to prove he can coach and come home (if that is what we decide), but I have a lot of trouble actively rooting against him even if he is at Tennessee.

Because he's a native Bammer. Played at Bama, Coached at Bama both as a CO-DC and a DC. Brought fire to the bellies of our vaunted defenders... Now, he's turning the TENN "D" into a formidable SEC quality level of run stoppers and pass defenders. Secondly, he's transformed the TENN off line into a big, strong and deep line that get's off the ball and move people around. Pass defense will only get better from an experience perspective if for no other reason. However, there is talent in the back. People, the cupboard was bare when Pru took over the HC job at TENN,
but he stuck to the process and now it's bearing fruit! I know we'll play them every year for many years to come.
It's going to be fun! Again.....RTR!
