Why didn't Tennessee get a transfer QB?

They have a highly touted freshman incoming, but do you really want to rely on him or Guantanamo? Bizarre. They have enough talent elsewhere to top last year's win total, schedule is just brutal.

What about the kid from Cali last year that subbed for Gitmo when he was benched? That kid looked serviceable until he got hurt. Where is he?

It's Vandy that needs the transfer - Mason is in trouble and I'm not sure they even have a Sophomore QB on the roster, much less a decent one.

Kasim Hill is a walk-on here but he has no knees left.

As to the OP, we kicked the tires on JT Daniels but only wanted him if he were able to play in 2020, which he’s not so we didn’t really pursue him.

There also wasn’t a single good transfer QB last cycle so wgaf

I was impressed by Mauer's play vs UGA. Bailey is their future though.

Not a guarantee with Salter and Simpson following behind him but Bailey will likely be much better than what we’ve had with Gitmo

?? Newman, King and Costello all much better than Gitmo.

King is a shitty passer, Newman had a worse QBR than Gitmo last year, and hard pass on taking another Stanford castoff, Keller Chryst sucked.

None of those guys change anything about the 2020 VOLS. We are a 7-9 win team with Gitmo and we would be with those duds as well.

Long term we are fine at QB and we have seen enough shitty football the past two decades to tolerate another mediocre season while the young gunslingers mature to compete for the job in 2021. Really no use potentially messing that up for a short term rental

Hopefully Bailey is getting starts by the end of the season. It does no good for the long term to just commit to a mediocre Guarantano when you could get experience for a future starter.

It just reminds me of the Matt Simms/Bray 2010 year. Simms gets to be the tomato can for half the season until replaced by our lord and savior...

Uh, Keller Chryst never threw for more than 1000 yards in a season at Stanford. Costello threw for 3500 yards in 2018.

You would be unfathomably unintelligent to think that one could even compare to the other. Like, a total, complete dumbass.

I agree. Going to waste a good D and strong OL.

Why waste time with a Tennessee fan that rather have a 7-9 win season than try to get to 9-11 win season with a better quarterback!

Like I said, a mediocre transfer QB does not change the trajectory of our season.

We have 8 games we’ll be favored in, and 4 likely losses (Alabama, Oklahoma, Florida, Georgia). Does not matter who plays QB next season, it would take a Cam Newton esque talent at QB to take us out of the 7-9 win bracket.

Genuinely could not care any less. If he were anything other that an average/above average QB, he wouldn’t have been pushed out for Davis Mills (injuries aside), and he would’ve landed at a better school than Mississippi State.

2020 is a rebuilding year :p

I think Bailey is our starter for the next two and a half years.

If you're being serious, what pushed Costello out of Stanford is the ability to get into Stanford's Political Science graduate program.

So he’s an average QB and a retard. Checks all the boxes
