UF and LSU got ATM early, they got better and more confident as the year went.
Sumlin knew to win that game he had to get out of the gate fast and was able to because JFF happened to be on fire.
We were not able to execute the defensive game plan in the first quarter because they were executing well offensively. We adjusted and did better.
We did just come off LSU, but they was having a pretty tough stretch too.
I would say UF and LSU may have had slightly better defense than BAMA, but more than that their defenses were better built to defend the spread where BAMA's was better built for Pro style offenses.
Our defense played pretty good from the 2nd quarter on, but the offense didn't execute to give the defense some rest, and the coaches time to adjust between possessions in the first quarter.
And finally the passing instead of running from the 6 yard line, our new OC is a PAC 12 guy and is used to passing and forgot he had a badass OL and with that PAC12 mentality threw the ball instead of just pounding it in for the go ahead score. Insert Jesse at FB and pound the rock and if that don't work hit them with the Cody 5 play like the 2009 Iron Bowl. Game Over

But like the old song says Hind sight's 20/20.

So why was Johnny Football so good in the first half against UF?

Did you even watch the game?

Saban couldn't stop Cam Newton. Why should you expect him to stop MANziel?

A QB that is fast and can throw the ball decently is Saban's Kryptonite.

I'm starting to believe that one of Chip Kelly's Oregon teams could have beat Alabama, had they played in the National Championship.

I watched some of it, not all. Wasn't it his first game? yall had no idea what to expect and he made some plays on yall. Yall adjusted and he was still green and not as confident and got less green and more confident as the year progressed.
FWIW we did a hell of a lot better after the 1st quarter too.

josh, if you think the A&M team that took the field against UF was even in the same neighborhood as the team that took the field for A&M in November and December then you're badly mistaken

Did you even watch?

Suprised at the Bama fans making excuses for the Aggies beating them last year.

This "war" for Bama the previous week was against a team that didn't even finish in the top 10.

Bama was the third straight SEC road game for the Aggies who had played 9 weeks in a row without a bye week. Aggies had no edge on you.

Saban should be respected for behaving like a Champion Coach and not making any excuses.

This is the same Will Muschamp who was the only coach to stop Tebow twice, let's not forget that.

You mean Chris Leak in 2006 and Tim Tebow in 2007.

Excuses? Who's making excuses? We lost. So what? We also finished 13-1 and won another SEC title and BCS title.

Excuse me, I misinterpreted. This is just a friendly invitation to an Alabama family picnic!

Please learn how to quote. I can't even tell who that's from.

But shite happens. Just like a 2010 team with 14 future first rounders on it lost three games. shite happens.

Too much emphasis on the LSU game. (May have lost that one if there hadn't have been) Underestimated what JFF could do. Afterall, LSU and FL had beaten them already.

Also, the team was physically and emotionally spent after LSU game. Bama was one play away from winning it even so.

It works both ways. UF got better as the year went on as well. UF beat 4 top 10 teams on the season, there is no reason to think the outcome would have been any different had the game been played later.

I'm not one for excuses, but A&M fans want to say Alabama can't use the LSU game as reason for a flat start, but playing Florida early "and not being SEC ready" isn't an excuse?
