Texas is apart of America and has to be or your shitty power grid would collapse without us (especially on the west coast).

You are welcome.

Hayden Fry is the only male Texan who could wear white pants, kick his leg up, and be taken seriously as a hard-arse on the sidelines. helluva coach.

...just taking a page out of Missouri's student handbook - throwing poop at a wall to see if it sticks - or in their case makes an image.

The Duke's fine work on the topic. Minnesota is the actual founder of the moniker.

Tiger Walk

Yes, before Auburn invented walking into the stadium, players were parachuted onto the field causing many injuries and sometimes would land blocks away if winds were high. Some industrious coaches had their teams scale the walls of the stadium, but they were then often too exhausted to play afterwards.

Hats off to Auburn!

people get so upset over our traditions. because most universities have little to none of their own.

it seems that Gill was not the lone man on the sideline when the final whistle blew. By Duke’s reckoning, A&M still had twenty healthy players by the time Gill came down from the stands, not twelve.

Getting upset at Aggy traditions is a time-honored tradition among non-Aggys.

Probably the same reason LSU stole Death Valley from Clemson.

It's hard to pin down when exactly they started using the 12th man term at A&M. The student paper was talking about the 12th man in 1921 months before the Dixie Classic with Centre College in 1922. So it definitely predates Gill.
Nov 25, 1921

It could have just been a colloquial expression that rarely found its way into print. Schools weren't really trying to market their teams back then the way they do now.

I think the term kind of faded away at other places that were also using it back in the day, but it lived on at A&M. Maybe because we always had a loud crowd, students standing the whole game, doing all these different synchronized yells.

If you really want to play history detective, you can next move on to the halftime riot, murder and aftermath of the 1926 Baylor vs A&M game. Very hard to separate fact from fiction on that one.

It was Iowa football, do you really think anybody noticed?
