It's his fault Vandy has the shittiest Power 5 football team outside of Kansas, though.

So that is probably why he got fired.

The coach before him was a lot better

He's had his time. Honestly if they think it's time to try to find another Franklin or anyone better. Let em try they wont but he's winless atm also the freshmen QB not bad for a new coach to run with

It really does not seem like he’s been there for 7 years. That’s definitely more than enough time.

For a really good coach, Vanderbilt should be a very good job. Win 5 or 6 games a year and be reasonably competitive and a coach can stick around with none of the pressures at the big programs. Look at Cutcliffe at Duke. He makes, relatively speaking, good but not great money. But all Duke expects him to do is to be reasonably competitive (I am and old Duke alum and suffered through really miserable football in my day). Vanderbilt should be a better program and is similar to Duke. Its academics will draw a certain kind of player, likely to graduate and improve and develop each year. They are not going to be a big time program, but clearly a good coach can do much better than Mason did.

Alumni and fans don't play the game, they pay for it.

As not being an alumnus, your error is understandable.

I agree that kansas is the crappiest team in Power 5...but even on its good days(?), it is still the craps.

And again, NEVER capitalize the k in kansas, please.

Exactly, and where are Vandy’s good paid-for players?
Hell, where are their good assistants?

The private high schools in Nashville have better facilities than Vandy. They just don’t care about football or any of their sports (minus baseball) Nashville would come out and support them if they were worth a crap - their leadership is awful.

You take the Vandy job knowing it's just for a few years. Getting fired is inevitable.

Franklin had them looking good. 7 years later and you get shut out by Mizzou. Def a fireable offense

I mean they have a shitty administration that doesn't care or support for football. So there is no doubt Mason got no support and was ripped off on that. He deserves a G5 job as he did some good despite that.

But with that being said Vanderbilt has been even worse that worse and def has reason to be gone
