Auburn played TN, MSU, UF, GT, UGA and Bama every year and they would rotate the 7th team from the rest.

Teams were rotated back then.
In addition, you had, WWII, LA politics, they didn't like the smell of corndogs, tbh IDK but might have had something to do with Sewanee, Tulane, and GT getting their vagina's hurt and leaving the SEC.
Mainly Tulane.

LSU finished 1st in the SEC twice and 2nd twice during that period. And 6th and below 13 times.

Not sure but there were some weird stretches of teams not playing each other.
Georgia went almost 30 years without playing UT,

That’s because you bitched out and we didn’t have our rent a win padding our stats
It’s cool, dude. Just admit you guys bitched out and we can move on to more modern discussion about AU playing at LSU.

Yep.1908-1947 the series was suspended in what started out as a spat over per diem expenses. It turned into a shitshow in the state legislature until the legislature passed a resolution in 1947 for the series to resume in 1948.

ignorance is bliss, isn't it? Here is how SEC scheduling works..........the schools don't make the conf. schedule. The league office does, even back then.........dumbass.
quote:
Of the Big Six, Auburn is the only school to have all five of the other Big Six teams in its Top Six most-played. That is part of the reason why Auburn has one of the historically tougher schedules in all of college football. It's one thing that makes Auburn's place on the all-time winning percentage chart look even better.
quote:
Auburn also holds the highest number of total games played against the other Big Six teams at 379 games. Georgia and Alabama aren't far behind. LSU and Tennessee are definitely on the low end as the only teams with less than 300 games against the other Big Six.

so who exactly "bitched out"?

Uh. You just said that the league handles all scheduling going back to at least 1943.
So by your own admission NOT LSU.
And AU can NOT claim they chose to play the big six that often by your own admission.
And I’m not clicking your fricking AU fan page source link you loser
Boy you’re dumb.

Got into a scheduling argument with him about UGA playing UF and AU back to back when Vince Dooley coached.Once I proved him wrong he wasn't even man enough to stick around and admit it.Just ran away and didn't show up for 2 or 3 days.

We only played 10 games.
We hardly ever played Ole Miss either.
We played Georgia Tech, MSU, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and Alabama every year.
Georgia Tech left, but we kept the game. So most years we only played 6 conference games.
Then expansion happened.

Not really, the league had some guidelines, but didn't make the schedules. That's how you end up with some teams playing most of the games at the larger stadium to maximize revenue. From 1945-1970, LSU played State 26 times, 23 of which were in Tiger Stadium, 3 in Jackson.

The "Big 6" wasn't a thing until the 90s. From 1950-1970, Ole Miss had the best win% in the entire country. LSU played them every year, Auburn only played them 4 times, going 1-3.

The rumor was that the L8U frat boys were molesting the auburn Greek girls every other year and the BOT got tired of losing the girls to pregnancy. This was before birth control.
Plus the swine school was losing too many pigs to whole hog sacrifice to the god of the Pit.
Auburn wanted out and the other team said sure.
