Just like the 2015 Sugar Bowl against Ohio State, they stopped running the ball when they were gashing the defense.

Furthermore, why did we take our best running back out of the game when we got into the red zone?

Or like...the 2018 Georgia-LSU game.

A major reason why I'm not sad to see Chaney go.

Because we had to try to play keep up. When Savion fell down after getting Juked out of his shoes the score was getting away from Bama.

You don’t think using Chubb as a lead blocker for a 165lb wr on a sweep on 4th and 1 is a good call?

Made the same comment during the game. Running straight ahead, Clemson wasn’t stopping Bama.

I’ve seen Saban crush a team with all running plays, all the way down the field, and I expected him to do that Monday night.

Yep.

And why didn’t he run from the start of the game?

I think he could have won with Hurts starting.

Because that's not who they are anymore. They overwhelmed teams with their passing attack from a great QB and phenom WRs. They don't play how they used to before Tua. Either way though, they couldn't stop Clemson.

This is all pretty spot on.

I'd love to see us next season feature Najee, and give him 15-25 carries a game, and play at least a little bit more ball control.

First, I think it only feels like they abandoned the run for a less effective pass attack.

But if they did reduce the run game in my estimation it was for two reasons, the clock and keeping the run game open.

Rightly or wrongly the clock was on Saban's mind pretty early on, evidenced by the not punting on 4th down on their own 35.

If you look at the effectiveness of the run game it stopped inside the Clemson 25, when Clemson cheated the defense toward the run they shut them down. Without the threat of a pass the run game might not have looked the same. Certainly, this might open up the occasional over the top play, however.

There were times it almost appeared like Bama's coaching staff was trying to lose the game but there were also times it became clear they were outgunned in almost every aspect of on-field performance. Bama moved the ball at will much of the game until they were inside Clemson's 30 from the red zone plus 5 or 10 yards Clemson manhandled them.

IN the end, their run/pass plays were almost balanced and they got twice the yardage in passing as they did running so while it appeared during the game the run game was more effective in reality it was really wasn't. Clemson ran a similarly near balanced attack and while only getting about 10% more total yards they got nearly 3 times the points. It wasn't about abandoning the run it was about the failure to finish drives.

It really wouldn't surprise me if Alabama went back in the direction of pounding the ball at least some. Seemed like at times that Saban was not a fan of Tua's risk taking that usually didn't come to fruition as a problem against most teams.

Saban acted on the sideline the same way he did in his last game at LSU. Puzzling

So, Clemson didn't win. Bama beat themselves.

Our red zone play calling was bad. Clemson never stopped Josh Jacobs in the wildcat from making yardage. Not once. But we didn't do it in the red zone. We probably should have used play action, Clemson was selling out to stop the run also.

Dunno but I'm getting tired of singing this song. I hope Dan Enos likes running the ball when it works. Seems like most OCs view running with disgust.
