Why can't Saban be like Barry Alvarez after he retires?

Alvarez is actively involved and very hands-on with the football program despite being retired for 10+ years. Yes, his micromanaging and controlling ways tends to run off coaches but his involvement has also helped Wisconsin maintain a top program for all of these years. Why can't Saban do the same for Bama especially if he is replaced by a young, unproven coach? It would definitely make a lot of sense for him to stick around in the athletic department. He could still have a role with the football program without having to deal with the day-to-day grind of being a head coach.

He would have to give a frick in order for that to happen. After he retires I doubt he really will.

Well, we just hired a 45 year athletic director, so......
I can't see Saban just kind of hanging around doing random things. He seems like the work 18 hours a day until the day he's done doing that and goes off to the lake kind of guy. I can't see a sort of help here sort of help there tinker here tinker there type of ending.

Saban does not love Alabama like Alvarez loves Wisconsin.

Crazy he's 65. The way he is he could make it to 90. Crazy thought.

Which has its pluses and minuses. Broyles was very hands-on with the Arkansas football program and wound up running off Holtz and Hatfield because of it. You run off enough coaches and even a solid program can have a hard time attracting interest from elite HCs.

Barry Alvarez is a micromanaging arse hat that runs off head coaches because he's so hard to work with. Why else would they have head coaches leave for downgrades like Arkansas and Oregon State?
Saban's personality makes it likely that he'd be the same way. And if you want to invite back the good ole boy network way of running the show then by all means be my guess, I'm a fan of how it worked for yall in the early 2000s

If Saban was a real man with a purpose, he would go back to Kent State and build a dynasty. Oh, that's right... Kent State doesn't provide brand new Dodge Chargers for recruits. Saban would be in the MAC the same thing he was in the NFL. A loser.

Who doesn't want an AD that tells you tough shite you aren't getting higher pay for your staff?

Look at the rest of the sports programs under Alvarez. Alvarez is a pretty damn good AD

Plus Gary Andersen was a nightmare. It was smart running his arse out of there in two years

I always heard it had more to do with Wisconsin refusing to pay assistants more.

It's harder to get recruits in. I read somewhere that the admission standards for these athletes are tougher than the other big ten schools. Except for northwestern.
I think it has to do with that and assistant pay too. But bielema just got offered a ton of money at Arkansas. That's the real reason. How do you like that and his buyout now piggies

I hope Nick Saban runs for governor of Alabama. I'm dead serious. He would be great at it.

That pretty much describes Saban.
