It's looking like Florida will fail to sign a single 5-star kid for the fourth year in a row. How does a program like Florida, located in arguably the most talent-rich state, consistently fail to sign 5-star kids?

Counting the current 2019 class, and going back to 2016, the state of Florida has produced 18 kids with a 5-star rating in the 247Composite rankings. Here are where those kids signed/committed:

6- Alabama
4- Ohio St.
3- Georgia
2- Clemson
1- Florida St.
1- Miami
1- Ole Miss
ZERO- Florida

Looking at the nation as a whole, here are the total # of 5-star kids signed by each SEC school since the Class of 2016 (counting current commitments/signees for 2019):

18- Georgia
14- Alabama
7- LSU
4- Auburn
3- Ole Miss
2- Tennessee
2- Texas A&M
1- Arkansas
1- S. Carolina
1- Mississippi St.

Florida, Kentucky, Vandy, and Mizzou have zero.

How in the world has there been 53 kids with a 5-star rating enter the SEC yet Florida have zero of those kids? I mean when you are located right in the heart of a recruiting hotbed, its like you have to try to recruit that poorly.

It’s hard getting psyched up with Daniel as your coach.

Why ask a question when you already know the answer?...oh right...this is the rant. Maybe you are paying as much as Bama now?

Better question is, will Kirby be able to beat UF once we start signing 5* recruits?

No the better question is will your notoriously bad recruiter head coach EVER be able to sign a 5-star?

"Coach 'em up" is great when you are at Mississippi State, but I assume Florida has higher expectations than what exist in Starkville. Maybe not though.

That’s a lot of five stars for us. Be nice if we won a national title with them.

He is going to get better players naturally while being at Florida than what he had at Mississippi St. You can be a bad recruiter and still grab top 10 classes while at Florida.

He’s already signed a better transition class last year than he ever signed at Miss State

Georgia has been very insecure lately. You’re awfully obsessed with Mullen to be so unafraid of him. Once he takes Kaiir Elam in two weeks and finishes next year with a top 5 class, you’ll stop having this false narrative about Mullen’s recruiting chops.

See y’all in November! You got an asswhooping coming.

what is the answer though, honestly? You can point to there being disinterest in the program under mcelwain, with a newly increased interest under mullen, but still it does seem odd a major program like UF in a state like FL wouldn't happen to luck into one.

Because it's hard to find a 5-star that meets Merlins' thetan requirements.

It’s almost criminal how much talent Georgia wastes every year

And we're actually top 10 now on 24/7.
No one expects Mullen (at least I don't) to pull in these top 3-5 classes annually.
