Male athlete of the year? Joe burrow or Patrick mahomes.
I'll say Patrick wins, the NFL is king.
I can't think of who else will be nominated

Yeah, that one NCAA record should make him a lock.

It's a stupid award and I feel pity for anyone who watches that bullshite.
I looked up past winners.
Since 2000, only 2 football players have won it. L.Tomlinson in 2007 and Drew Brees in 2010.
Lance Armstrong however has personally won it 4 times in a row. Tiger Woods has won it 4 times as well, 3 times in a row before Armstrongs 4 in a row, then LT in 2007 and Tiger Woods again won it in 2008.
Hell, Tiger might win it again this year with his comeback or whatever.
Phelps won it for swimming in 2009. And then from 2011 - 2019 it was all but 1 basketball player. 3 of them Lebron James, Dirk Nowitzki, Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Russell Westbrook and 2019's winner - Giannis Antetokounmpo.
2018 had a hockey player win it, Alexander Ovechkin.
I don't think a college player has ever won it in any sport. But hell, that's actually in favor of Burrow because it would be some big headline ESPN could make and they love that shite. 1st college player to ever win the award. If there had been some tragic event that happened to the area, he'd be in for sure.
So yeah, it's a shite award and mostly about some feel good narrative. Because it's ESPN/Disney and that's their specialty.

I wish they would pick him, and then he tells them to go frick themselves.
That would be high quality television.

I do not disagree. I have never watched it. Notice my post before yours that says it will be someone who isnt white.

Dont disagree with that either. I grew up watching ESPN and Sports Center, I honestly have not watched it in the last decade because of the crap they report on.

This would not shock me. Get ready for something that resembles the Oscars.
