Here’s my 16 candidates. This is not teams who made it and lost, but teams that never got there.
Whether they lost the SEC title game, got straight left out, missed out because they lost the single tie breaker game, or lost in the first round of the playoffs.
Disclaimer- I am 100% sure I’m forgetting someone because I’m not looking them up, just going off memory.
Candidates
1998 UF
2001 UT
2001 UF
2002 UGA
2004 Auburn
2005 LSU
2007 UGA
2008 Alabama
2009 UF
2012 UGA
2012 A&M
2012 UF
2013 Missouri
2014 Alabama
2015 Ole Miss
2019 Alabama

'01 UF vs '07 UGA would be a heck of a shootout.
That UF offense put up some amazing numbers.

19 Alabama should be nowhere near this list. They sucked.
2010 Alabama wins or 09 UF
A team being left off is 06 LSU.

If completely healthy. That offense would run any team they faced off the field.

No love for 99 Bama? They finished #4 in the BCS.

This would be my choice. That was Spurrier's best team.

Damn that was a good team. A real shame they didn’t have a competent game plan on defense for the SECCG.

'09 UF vs '12 UGA, with Florida obviously winning because, you know, Georgia.

Grossman should've won heisman
Stafford/Moreno were really coming along and that UF offense was outstanding.

Probably - but I also thought his 95 unit was incredibly good as well. They just ran into buzzsaw of 2GOAT (95 NEB) that night.

UF 2001 pre-FSU twisting of Earnest Graham's knee was an offensive machine. They just did not have an explosive backup RB once he got hurt. It amazes me that FSU friends of mine still won't admit Darnell Dockett twisted his knee under the pile, even though Dockett publicly apologized for doing it.

2016 Alabama should be on your list.
Edit: Nevermind, I read it as “didn’t win the natty” not “didn’t get to the natty.”
