Interesting speculation. I'm wondering if the SEC gets 2 in the playoffs, if the loser of the SEC Championship game has much of a shot at being one of them. I

I would bet the other conferences required a committee to keep the SEC from taking over on good years. Could be an absolute debacl

It will be very rare for two teams from the same conference to make the playoffs. Probably less than once a decade.

I'm not one of these "THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A SINGLE GOOD NON-SEC TEAM IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL HISTORY!!!!!1111" types of guys, but if you think it will be less than once a decade that one conference gets more than 1 team in, you're crazy.

In the past 10 years it would have happened a bunch. Mostly with the SEC, but even the Big 10 would have had 2 entries if there were a playoff during the 2006 season (Ohio State and Michigan).

It will probably happen around 50% of the time, many of which will be two SEC teams.
