Who was the most dominant SEC team over the last 30 years?

My vote goes to the 2008 Florida team.
2008 Florida Gators: 13-1
Average margin of victory: 31 points (best)
Average margin of victory vs Top 10 opponents: 23 points in 4 wins (best; min. 2 games)
Average margin of victory vs SEC opponents: 30 points (2nd best)
Wins by 30+ points: 8 (tied for best)
Out-gained ranked opponents by an average of 148 yards and averaged over 7 yards per play in those games
---
Other, somewhat atypical, teams that stand out are 1996 Florida (def. SEC teams by an average of 31 points) and 2004 Auburn (3 ranked opp held to 10 points or fewer)

2016 Alabama was fricking ridiculous. Beat the rose bowl champ by basically 7 touchdowns and blew out almost everyone on their schedule except the one that counted the most.

Honestly 2011 LSU was the most dominant I can remember minus one game

2011 Alabama.
Cade Foster ruined this team’s legacy as the greatest of all-time.
No game that team played was remotely close.
If the defense didn’t get a 3 and out, something was wrong.
Every game was a foregone conclusion. There wasn’t a doubt in my mind what would happen in that title game.

I can think of a 2nd game they didn't dominate

They lost to a 9-4 Ole Miss team.

On paper it would have to be the 2018 Bama team - If all your candidates are one loss teams then the 2018 Bama squad was the most dominant SEC team ever - even if they lost their last game.
Prior to Playoff era, the 2018 Bama would have ended undefeated and likely #1 with Orange Bowl beat down of OU.
Regarding 2008 UF - Loss to Clemson in the NC > Loss to Ole Miss in regular season

Only other team I’d be willing to concede to is the ‘96 Florida team.

The thing about the 2008 Florida Gators is if UF was on offense and it was 3rd down with four or less yards to go, Tebow was going to get the first down. You couldn’t get their offense off the damn field. The 08 Gator defense was very tough too.

Jalen is the only thing holding them back from GOAT.

It’s amazing. If 44-16 and 21-0 never happened then 2011 LSU and 2018 Bama would be at the top of my list.
2012 Bama is underrated imo. That Oline was incredible.

I’m sorry but even throwing out 44-16 the 2018 Bama defense doesn’t deserve to be on anybody’s top list. Bama just had a QB that could sling the ball around and score points last season for the first time since Homer Smith was the OC. The offense carried the defense last season. That’s why I get befuddled when our rivals say we think 2018 Bama was the best team ever. No serious Bama fan would think that.

2011-12 Kentucky Basketball
38-2
16-0 SEC
Only lost at Indiana early in season and to Vandy in SEC Tourney
Closest game in NCAA tourney was 8 points.

The 2008 Florida Gators were very possibly the greatest collection of on-field and off-field talent in modern SEC history.
They were stacked from the coaching staff (Urban, Mullen, Strong, Addazio, Hevesy, McCarney, Heater, Billy G) to backup QB (Cam).
The only negative was Urban forcing Mullen to call too conservatively against Ole Miss. When they broke open the playbook and got Demps and Rainey more involved for the rest of the season, they absolutely humiliated the rest of the schedule.
51-21 against #4 LSU
49-10 against #8 UGA
56-6 against #24 USC
45-15 against #23 FSU
31-20 against #1 Alabama (no Harvin)
24-14 against #2 Oklahoma (injured Harvin)

That was coming from Bama Fans. Around Nov every year we hear how Bama could beat an NFL team from your fanbase.

They only played 1 top 10 opponent in the regular season and they held UGA to under 10 points. They played another in their bowl game (VT) and didn't.
I understand the desire to use the rankings while you played, but seriously. You don't see Bama bragging about beating a #3 FSU in 2017. They brag about scheduling FSU (something 2004 Auburn was lacking). But Bama fans aren't idiots.

2008 Florida was one of the best teams I ever saw. I never saw a team, that fast, that precise, that determined.
