You have to realize that an 18 year old kid was born in 1994.

Damn that makes me feel old.

Spurrier at UF. It was frustrating as hell to play them, but what made it worse was you couldn't help but grudgingly admire the asskicking he was putting on you.

I say Spurrier. I know many LSU fans may disagree, but just think back and remember.

Few people hate Saban. Just a vocal few. Spurrier by far and this isn't even a legit question. The hatred of Spurrier was legendary.

I am an LSU fan and I would agree. Spurrier would come out and talk shite and then drop 50 on you. Saban doesn't do that. Pissed me off more than you could know.

Spurrier. I still remember the feeling I had when I heard the news he was heading to Washington, huge sigh of relief

Used to hate Spurrier at UF because he ruined many a season for Bama in the SECCG. Other than 1992 and 1999, SOS was the hump Bama just couldn't get over. The 1994 loss to UF by count of 24-23 is one of the most excruciating losses I've ever experienced. Bama was undefeated and to be so close...

I wouldn't think so, but when you see certain posters around here it begs the question.

Saban in the last five years at Bama SEC record: 35-5

Spurrier's BEST FIVE YEAR stretch at any point SEC record: 36-4

Spurrier in the 1990s at Florida

I sat in a house that was mostly full of Alabama fans and watched them cheer when he threw his visor against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the Sugar Bowl. That was the game where Jerome Bettis ran wild against Florida.

I even saw them laugh at him when Patrick Nix hit Frank Sanders with a late TD pass when Auburn upset Florida in 1994.

So I can only imagine how other rivals of Florida must have acted when the lost in those days which wasn't very much. Spurrier is the easy answer here.

So you're saying Saban's best 5 years are inferior to SOS's best 5? Gotcha

Spurrier won 4 straight SEC titles. Saban would be much more hated if he could do that. Hell, if he were to win 2 straight he'd probably get more hate.....

Well he's only been at Bama 6 years but yes, by one game. In an infinitely stronger conference, though that's neither here nor there.

Spurrier.

His manner of running up scores and his sarcasm far exceed anything Saban has done on a routine basis.

Both are great coaches; would not have been unhappy to see either come to LSU, but I like Saban's overall approach to coaching better.

This is a very enlightening thread. I kinda forgot why everyone hated us. I would have hated UF too if I was a fan of another team.

Funny how completely different Spurrier and Saban are. More than one way to skin a cat.

spurrier was an a-hole; the biggest a-hole the sec had ever seen. but, the son of a gun walked the walk and he was funny as hell. he change the sec more than many realize. db's in the sec were wr's with bad hands; spurrier taught the sec to recruit real db's or he would pound your head in.
