Umm, they should've been used to it by the time Spurrier arrived. In the 70s alone, Bama won 9 SEC titles and 3 national titles.
Charlie Mac did a pretty good job at LSU but could never compete with the Bear. Always fell short.
I see Les as our current Cholly Mac and Nick as the Bear. One step behind.

I'm 25 but I do remember the 90s. My household both hated AND feared Steve Spurrier while he was at Florida. He beat us so many times in the SEC Championship Game it was enough to piss you off. That 34-7 beat down of Florida in the '99 SEC Championship Game remains one of my Top 5 favorite Alabama games simply because it put that douche in his place.

There was a little gap between when bar beat everyone. Past, like, 8 years or so theres been a team that just beat everyone.

Saban doesn't taunt the opponent, Spurrier was really bad at doing that @UF Saban just beats that arse like a gentleman.

True, the 80s was one of the most parity-filled decades in SEC history

Spurrier wouldn't just beat people. He'd run up the score then make fun of the other team for not being able to stop it lol.
Saban is at least respectful in his comments towards all other teams.

I hate Spurrier more than any football figure ever. He dominated Georgia when he was at Florida. Then he went and fricked up my favorite NFL team with the help of Dan Snyder. Now he's a thorn in UGA's side at South Carolina.
Frick him
Frick him

Who was more hated at the time?
Spurrier in the 1990s at Florida
or
Saban in the 2010s at Alabama.
Spurrier in the 1990s at Florida and it's not even close.

Duh, I think the play you are referring to was just three yrs ago and the coach was Urban...not Spurrier....have you been on a time warp? The only year LSU beat Spurrier was in 1997 when our Heisman winning qb was gone and we were not very good...and LSU had a lot of srs that year...ditto UGA which had a sr laden class and finbally beat him in 1997...but we did have some good Ws, we beat Peyton in the Swamp for his senior year and we also beat the girls school in the final game of the year when they were ranked # 1 coming in to the Swamp...it was a classic battle...one of the all best games ever...Spurrier rotated qbs almost every other play..coaching em up on the sidelines what he wanted them to do and it worked well.

Spurrier, he tries to be hated - comments, running up the score and bragging about it, starters stay in the entire game and still passing while way up. Saban will only do that against Auburn.

Too young to remember but frick you I'm answering anyway
Easily Spurrier at Florida. Rationale? My parents, who were old enough to remember the 90s SEC, still think Spurrier's a douchebag almost 20 years later. They're already over Saban.
07 Saban vs 90s Spurrier is the only remotely close one and I think that's just because the whole "omgrr went to division enemy" sentiment was fresh.

Your parents ate "old enough to remember the 90s SEC?". How old are you?
I'm old enough to remember when we chatted about college football on Usenet newsgroups. I remember the day I discovered the lyrics to "Smells like Teen Spirit" on Gopher.
The Aggies were master trolls on rec.sport.football.college back in the day.
Jeebus, am I that old? I'm a man, but not 40 just yet.

God, I miss Spurrier. Does that answer your question?
