They certainly have a window of opportunity....

quote:Sure, and a lot of that would be simply due to the quality of the teams, particularly in the regionals.
I went through it awhile back(using regionals and CWS for data over the last 5 years), and of the teams that come all the way back, it is statistically about twice as likely to be the team that lost their second game compared to the team that lost their first
A lot more 1-seeds lose their 2nd game than their 1st game, so it makes sense the results would skew in favor of teams who lose the 2nd as opposed to the 1st. Conversely, a 4-seed almost always loses their first game and rarely makes it back out, simply b/c they aren't a very good team.
I'd be interested to see if there is a difference between losing your first or second game in the CWS only and excluding regionals, since all of the teams are good and there aren't any first round David v. Goliath matchups.

LSU can still do it. We do have pitching. Glenn, Eades, and then back to Nola.

It's baseball dude... The Cardinals had a 3-1 lead over the Giants in the NLCS last year... What happened? Zito pitches a gem and Sandoval and Scutaro decided they werent going to get out the rest of the postseason.. The Giants won 7 games in a row and they were World Series Champions... That 2010 USCe team won 4 in a row to make the Championship series... This LSU team is just as good as that team on paper.

Since 1988, there have been 14 teams that lost either their first or second game advance to the championship game/series... 9 of those lost their second game. 5 lost their first.
So, even though the sample size is small -- the data still falls in line with my initial post...

It will be tough, but if any team is built to do this, it be us
