If we're going to put some of those names on the list then Matt Campbell at Iowa State deserves consideration. I don't think most people recognize how much of a college football cesspool Ames, Iowa has traditionally been. He's done a helluva job there and will be a steal for some larger program soon.

He does have one of the very few wins over Oklahoma that Iowa State has total in their history. That’s a huge step. While he has a chance, it’s too early. Dan McCarney in the early 2000s saw major success at ISU. His 2002 team was good enough early on to be a conference title threat. They were ranked as high as #9, but they haven’t been close since.
