Probably because he was selling insider information in a newsletter to wealthy donors?

And I love that beating Texas by 8 was such a humungous victory, when in the same decade Texas never won by less than double digits.

Also, you fired Sherman after 2011, on a telephone call... because you lost to Texas. Sorry about that narrative of yours.

Sherman was fired because he wasn't on board with moving to the SEC. Had nothing at all to do with Texas.

Believe what you want. Just like you probably believe your offensive line isn't actually "trash tier". I've seen Texas fans that live in a state of denial, so I doubt there is much of anything that can be done to change your mind

I never brought up our offensive line? Nor does it have anything to do with who is the best aggie coach ever?

Seems like you're getting defensive over a joke written by a stranger on the internet. It's alright squirt, don't take it so personally.

Nothing will change my mind that whoever beat Texas the most will be considered the greatest at Texas A&M. In any sport. Just look at baseball for example: you won your Tuesday super bowl a number of weeks ago, celebrated like you won the college world series (something that will never happen at Texas A&M), and then proceeded to go 1-6 in your next 7 games. Sure haven't seen a crowd like that at any other aggie baseball games, but I guess the Tuesday ones are the most important, right?

The OL is just an example. And I don't expect to change your mind - like I said, most Texas fans live in a state of delusion. The truth is that Texas hasn't been Nationally relevant in a long time, and has been pigeon-holed through their own mistakes into a joke of a conference. There are still fans that believe the LHN was a great idea.

I doubt that changes anytime soon with "Seven Win Steve" either.

On topic, Sherrill is the best A&M coach to date, and Fisher might surpass him. If you want to extend the conversation beyond football there are certainly some more candidates

I personally love the LHN. Texas gets $15 million per year just to have their own television network. And how else would I get to watch the top 5 Texas baseball team and the defending national champion men's tennis program each night when they're playing? We don't split it with 13 other teams. But then again, if A&M was relevant and not another in-state school's personal doormat for 100+ years, then maybe they would've been offered a network themselves. Alas, ESPN wouldn't give a tv network to a school renown for rejects, so A&M had to take their ball and run to another conference to be the doormat of teams not named Texas or Oklahoma.

Boy, I sure do hate the fact that Texas is ranked in the top 20 in damn near every single sport they contend in. Lol - To be an aggie and ridicule another team for not being nationally relevant is the biggest lack of self-awareness I think I have ever seen

I was admitted fairly easily to both schools. I had to work harder on my A&M application. (they required an essay)

Back when I was in school, A&M was rated higher by U.S. News and top 10% of high schools were nearly all auto-admitted to both schools.

This was also during the Cheryl Hopwood fallout (t.u. has had multiple admission scandals over the last 20 years)

Well yea... Who the hell would want to bribe their way to go to farmersonly.com in College Station? Actually, who would even need to? Last I heard, their admissions rate was higher than Texas freaking Tech's

Ray Bowen's "Vision 2020" did far more damage to A&M academically than anything else.

You are making my point over and over. Fran still beat Texas twice in a row and was out and no sane person thinks Fran was fired over the newsletter thing. Fran was a disaster in so many ways but he did know how to beat Texas and we couldn't wait to be rid of him.

As stated Sherman wasn't on board with the SEC move and thought it would be bad for A&M. He was a great talent evaluator but not a good head man and was canned for mediocrity.

You also brought up the baseball game this year. Yet our baseball coach is a dead man walking. Sure we were happy that in the midst of a horrific season where we can't win a series against Xavier that we can still beat Texas but your entire point is that the epitome of everything for Aggies is beating Texas (when once again we are firing a coach who beat you).

I am truly grateful you are on tRant though to show everyone why tsips are insufferable and to give us a wonderful reminder of how much better life is not being in the same conference with you. It takes an incredible level of obsession to go to an SEC Board to rag on A&M. Just go home and get pumped up about your next road trip to Ames or Lubbock or something.

True, but it gave the athletic department the cover they needed to reduce the buyout and drove out McKenzie, who actively used texags to dox people. They underestimated how much of a petty piece of shite Fat Fran was though (he flat out refused to take a coaching job until the buyout ran out).

If I'm not mistaken, the decision to fire Fran was made after the 2007 Miami game and locked in after the Kansas game.

Reading Loftin's account, Sherman was fired for two reasons.

1. He didn't take any responsibility for the 2nd half collapses.

2. He refused to hire an offensive coordinator.

No he did not. A retroactive national championship awarded out of the Cracker Jack box 70 years later (when they are all dead) does not equate to “he won.”

He has to be the answer, right? Winningest coach in program history, no losing seasons, and CFB HOF.

As was previously mentioned, his bowl record was shitty, and he took over what Jackie built. But Jackie left him NCAA sanctions, and of the major bowls he lost, I wouldn't say he had the better team to begin with.

sip needs to realize that using an Austin taco joint with a portable sign for credibility reflects badly.

They are like a divorced Karen......it's over sippy. We are never going back. You are never coming to the SEC. Accept your fate. Understand your future consist of changing football coaches every three years infinity and beyond. Your life consists of a steady dose of Texas Tech and Baylor.

Get used to it. You lost.
