I think of sports and kinesiology as an art form the same as musicians and other performance artists where you can play or perform in the mystical level where everything you go for you can hit and conversely sometimes things just won’t work either due to chemistry of your team or your head screws you. These things don’t typically last in the musical setting unless it’s your team chemistry. My question, is Matt Corral most likely mind fricked at this point going forward, or is it a quarterbacks coaching issue that can be addressed to beat the tight zone coverage?

No I actually believe he will progress this week. Kiffin let him play through all of his mistakes because it would absolutely destroy his confidence if he was pulled. He’s still a young QB and you honestly have to show as a coach that you have his back like he has yours. He was outstanding the first 3 games so I believe last week was an anomaly.

It's unreal how much people overthink shite. A player has a bad day and all of a sudden it's "the sky is falling, he needs to be benched, he's fricked in the head".

Idk. He looks like a pretty good qb honestly. I just think he had a very bad game and arkansas had y'all's number that day. I think he will just forget about it and move on and be fine personally. Like I said, he has shown he is pretty good when he's on, but he was just absolutely off last game and it showed.

From what I've seen thus far, he will shred our defensive backs to pieces when we play, damn. I hope we can get it figured out, but we just look very young and inexperienced in the defensive backfield. They haven't played together before this season and it shows. He will prob set a record vs us, so cheer up lol.

Yea, I think he just had a bad day. Arkansas was supremely prepared and he started seeing ghosts.

Kiffin is great with QBs, too, so I wouldn't sweat it too much.

I haven't played QB but I have coached the passing game.

IMO, Matt Corral is too good a QB to be damaged much by a bad game. Also, he is a RS Soph, so he has lots of time to fix whatever went wrong against Ark. Plus, he has 3 very high rated games to build on.

I'm guessing he'll double down in the film room & on the practice field and come out just fine.

Your HC didn't run the ball when it was obvious to get the offense going and that would've changed the outcome of the game score.

Corral had 2 problems against us

He stared down receivers which against a zone kills you.

He struggled reading what zones we were in...Arkansas has done a great job of disguing this year.

This will probably turnout to be a good learning experience for him if he is coachable.

I played QB. What I saw from the bits of the game I watched is this: Matt corral is going to be fine. He’s young and still doesn’t have much experience under his belt. Running against drop 8 zone requires you to find the windows, and if timing is slightly off, you’ll pay for it every time.

Confidence won’t be shaken, that game will serve as a learning point for him. He needed film to actually look at and learn. He may have been slightly overconfident.

Then again, I ran triple option. 90% of my pass attempts were against man to man. Zone came when we were down.

Most difficult position in sports. Defense is constantly moving pre and post snap to confuse you. A great OC helps you out with motions / shifts/ formations/ personnel groupings that dictate a certain coverage. This makes for an easy read. A bad OC send you to the line with a play call , leaving the rest to you. Even if you make the correct read, you have 2 seconds to put he ball in a 2 by 2 window (to an open receiver) or 3 inch by 3 inch spot to a receiver who hopefully is the only person that can catch it. All of this while 4 or more guys are trying to kill you.

I'd say IF he throws a bad pick or 2, yeah- you could have a problem in that game.

But, I think the BIGGER problem is copy-cat-league-thing after we gave the league the blueprint to beat y'all. And how Kiffin literally will NEVER pull a QB even in a full meltdown, which as a fan would drive me insane, especially with a good back-up.

Zone all day reading eyes and constantly changing defenses.
