Tennessee is the bigger rival and has more tradition and a bigger Trophy case than Auburn. It isn’t even close.

2 Parts

(1) Geography ALWAYS plays a big role in this question. For North Alabama Bammers, Tennessee will always be co-#1 or #1 because you live with them and are around them. For those on the coast, many would put LSU up in that category. I think everyone will always have Auburn in the co-#1 of #1 overall spot, depending on part #2.

(2) As of now, most would say Auburn due to Tennessee's issues, Auburn being nationally relevant/pestering us over the last decade. However, in 2003, it was very much #1A and #1B for even those who lived far away from Tennessee, and Tennessee was very much #1 for those of us who were in the state or in North Alabama. Tennessee/Alabama in the late 90s and early 2000s was as nasty as any current rivalry in the country.

Most would probably say Auburn at the moment. Thats what 17 years of UT sucking will do

but maybe good things are on the horizon??

Well said and was surprised by this but it appears true in my experience. I have some Bama neighbors in Gulf Shores and the LSU game is by far the biggest game in their minds. They will normally get a group together for the game with various sec fans from around the southeast.

it's the rivalry that built the sec. it's the SEC's version of the big12s tx/ou and big10s mich/osu.

Pretty simple, and funny how jelly belly all the little bros get knowing that. Especially since UT has been horrible for so long.

Phat Phil winning 7 straight and 10 out of 12 will do that.

And it was on the heels of us winning 10 straight, so they enjoyed it, which drove us nuts.

That's the way it goes in that game.

Well Auburn rooted for them in the National Title game so there’s that.

For those that say auburn now, would you say you regarded tennessee more of a rival then? Like take how you feel about auburn now, is that more, less, or equal to how you felt about Tennessee

I see either on TV and instinctively hope they are losing whatever sporting event they are competing in by 100. I don't get that feeling about anybody else.

So, both.

And, for anyone who says Tennessee doesn't matter, let us lose to them once and see how that changes. Kids in college now literally don't remember what losing to Tennessee is like, led alone losing multiple games in a row.
