From the USCe game on, that oline was pretty damn good.

Well, except for their complete and total failure at pass blocking in the Clemson game. We allowed 8 sacks. E-I-G-H-T sacks.

Am I the only one who really isn't impressed with Marshall? Yes he is a good compliment to Gurley, but he just never really impressed me. Gurley on the other hand is a man, the kid just looks freaking huge even from the stands. He runs like a freaking mack truck.

he and Richardson were like co-starters in 2010.

Yeah and LSU had like 4 other backs besides Ridley they rotated in - Ware, Ford, Blue, etc. What is your point? I don't think you have one.

but would anyone like to argue me that Ingram is still a significantly better RB than Ridley as it was perceived in 2010?

They don't have an argument. Ridley >>> Ingram.

Gurley is more versatile for sure, but when Bobo ran Marshall outside and he got some space, he has that extra gear that Gurley doesn't quite have. Problem is we run Marshall up the gut too much.

I think it'll look like this coming into the V-Tech game: (as compared to the '09 chart)

Yeldon = Ingram
Fowler = Upchurch
Henry = Richardson
Drake = Grant

I will tell you what I think of Yeldon/Henry after the spring when we see the "freak" Henry against a real D instead of 170 pound LBs.

Could be Marcus Dupree or LaGarrette Blount. Might just be Cordera Eason though. The size and top end speed leave NFL leading rusher in play. 6-3 at tailback leaves 2.5 yards per carry as a short yardage back in play too (think Tim Castille).

Oh, and I think one of the Tenpenny/Kamara is gone by next spring.

Yeldon is the best RB out of hill and blue. Just more complete back. Might not have the power of Hill, but he is better in space and out of the backfield and more power than Blue. Actually, if you take Hll and Blue and make them 1 RB you would have Yeldon. Kids a stud. But, so is Hill. Just different kind of backs.

And I agree that LSU fans each year always say Ware is the next stud or Hilliard or whatever. I was never a big Kenny fan because of a few reasons and last year proved me right. He's soft. Biggest RB on the team, but avoids contact the most and never delivers a hit. Also way too slow in the open field. That said, Hill is different. 6'2 230 that can run away from people and delivers the hit, doesn't take it like Hilliard. Hill is our most talented RB in a long time. I like Blue a lot and want him to get carries, but I don't want a 50/50 split. Hill should get 18 and Blue get 8-12. Hilliard should just move to FB, but doubt he can block.

And as far as the TAMU-LSU game last year, we got to Manziel TAMU people. And you say the turnovers were mistakes from TAMU rather than plays made by LSU. Coming from an offensive heavy conference to the SEC, I'd probably say the same thing. But, defenses is what wins in the SEC. After LSU played Oregon, they said the same thing. It was mistakes by them and not plays made by LSU. The only one that could be classified as a "mistake" would be the tipped ball that turned into an int. But, maybe that WR got drilled earlier in the game and had that in the back of his head when he went across the middle? Manziel did throw a freaking bullet and the route was a little slant. Wrong ball in that situation. The fumble by Malena was a strip by Martin. Manziel had 2 bad throws because he was under pressure and resulted in 2 into. Manziel had his worst game of the season rushing and had his 2nd worst passer rating. We got to him. Next year could be different though.

Best RBs in the SEC next year:
Yeldon
Gurley( only ahead of Hill because he's in the east)
Hill
The rest

Not even close.

T.J. Yeldon - 175 carries, 1108 yards, 6.3 YPC 12 TDs
Jeremy Hill- 142 carries, 755 yards, 5.3 YPC, 12 TDs

The only stat that's even close is TDs. Yeldon averaged a full yard more per carry and ran for 350 more yards on just 33 more carries. And I want to see more from Jeremy Hill before I declare him the next big thing. It seems like LSU has a freshman or sophomore RB that is hyped up every year and they end up being buried in the depth chart the following year. Last year, it was Kenny Hilliard. A few years ago, it was Keiland Williams. Before that, it was Justin Vincent. How do we know that Jeremy Hill will be different from those running backs?

You do know that Alabama RBs averaged 4.2 yards per carry BEFORE contact during the 2012 season? I think 2013 will be a better indicator of just how good Yeldon is as a RB.

Eddie Lacy is a good RB but his 2012 yards per carry dwarf those of Ingram 2009 and Richardson 2011. Lacy was also a product of 4.2 yards per carry before contact.

Bama 2012 Offensive Line was 1 of the top 3 run blocking Olines in college football in probably the last 30 years. You have to consider the quality of the OLine when evaluating RBs.
