Ole Miss is anything but a sleeper. They'll have a great season, and it won't surprise me in the least.

I'm glad Ole Miss is not being automatically counted as an easy W for their team.

As for a sleeper, I'm going to go with Auburn.

With that defensive coordinator and secondary coach, it'll be tough for UT to stop anyone through the air.

There was a definite lack of speed in the secondary with Randolf getting injured before the season, no question.

A.J Johnson, Curt Maggit, Byron Moore, and Dan McCullers are 4 players that would say otherwise as far as no talent goes. The fact that we went from around 25th in Defense to 474th the same time a new scheme was implemented speaks for itself

We legitimately went through this exercise last year.

Let me just tell you what the response will be based on past behavior

quote:

That's better. I can, honestly, see us having a 7-win season the way things are around here.

Now, on to a few of your points:

quote: Your offense could be good but it has never been on the field at one time.

This is untrue, save for Cor Daryl.

quote: You will probably, again, have a weak rushing attack when compared to the rest of the conference.

I could see this...But I also see us doing much, much better than 116th in the country. I believe Marlin Lane is ready to prove a lot of skeptics wrong. (Let's not forget that Jay Graham is our RBs coach, now)

quote: Your back 7 on defense will struggle to stop good passing attacks.

Brian Randolph (Freshman All-American) and Justin Coleman will make sure that doesn't happen. The secondary isn't exactly our strong point, but people are sadly mistaken when they count them out.

quote: Prentiss Wagner will continue to be a man without a true position while trying to anchor that group.

Hasn't stopped him from being a play-making ball hawk the past two years, has it?

I predict we go 8-4 and finish 3rd in the East. IMO JMO IMHO

So to sum up, we're really secretly good, you guys are all wrong. We will finish with three more wins then the consensus. You can set your watch to it.

That's why I'm going with Mizzou.

UT should not be on the same list as Ole Miss and Vandy. They will continue to be a dumpster fire for at least the next two years.

why? UT had solid classes since 2010 and they're upperclassmen now.

On defense? You guys were last in the league. I think it had a little to do with talent (or the lack thereof) as well.

I guess you missed the part where we tried to switch to the 3-4, which has proven to be a disaster in the first season.. and even more so when you hire an unqualified buffoon that hasn't been a defensive coordinator in 20 years and who is coaching under an even more unqualified buffoon.

UT's defense will be improved just by default. It was the worst defense in UT history. LBs will be thin and we CBs are obviously a weak point.

As "bad" as he may be he's still head and shoulders above Sunseri. It's the truth, sadly enough.

Looks at staff, sees Willie Martinez.

MY GOD! It is worse than you even know.

Martinez > anyone on our defensive staff last year.

You do realize the last regime was arguably the worst in SEC history? Only 2-3 others could potentially top that.

Bookmarked to go with my collection of Sunseri bookmarks from last summer about how this year would be different. You may be right, but the trend is with me since we are going on year four of me being right.

Lol - so you honestly believe we are going to break our records from last year? Sunseri fielded the worst UT defense.... of all time. If that happened for a second consecutive season, I would honestly shoot myself. But that's as likely as UT re-hiring Derek Dooley after Butch Jones is let go.

For the record. I don't think Jones will last here and am disappointed he brought the whole gang from Cincinnati. But it will be much more bearable than the previous dumpster fire under Dooley and he may at least make it to 4 seasons and maybe with a winning record.. just not enough to bring the program to where we would like it to be.

I agree that it'll be damn near impossible to reach the level of shitty that Sal brought to UT last season but I still don't think it will be enough to make the team a "sleeper".

Willie made Erik Ainge AND Jonathan Crompton look like Peyton Manning. Pretty much any competent offensive coach has taken his secondary to the woodshed ever since he was promoted at UGA. I don't know how much talent you guys have back there but hopefully he won't find a way to frick it up too much. Prayers sent.

We're decent at safety - CB is a problem but a lot of the young guys haven't seen the field yet. The guys who played last year at CB are just so damn slow. Bonner was our most talented CB but.. well you know the story. Part of the struggle with the CBs was lack of pressure from Sunseri's predictable blitzes in the 3-4. Everyone knew what we were doing before the ball was even snapped leaving the secondary out to dry.

People are going to pass on us fairly easily. No denying that. We just hopefully won't have the complete chaos and confusion that plagued us due to Sunseri's awesomeness last year.

No. I have the posts from last year when I correctly predicted your season. You have misguided hope. Forgive me if I'm not buying year four of the sale job.

Who is selling? The sunshine pumpers can be found at [link=(www.volnation.com)]www.volnation.com[/link].

The non-delusional portion of the fan base was upset with the hire of Butch Jones because he will at best be an 8-4 guy here from what I see. Realistically he's 6-6 next year +/- 1 game.

The team should be improved by subtracting Dooley. The schedule is tougher this year though... thus nearly the same result.
