Ole Miss or State I would imagine. Doesn't really matter though as I'm sure Ole Miss has some solid programs while State has some Ag science stuff that is top notch.

I'm guessing you'd rather study Petroleum Engineering at LSU than Harvard, but the latter is certainly a better school. It all depends on your focus.

Yet at the end of the day, an Ole Miss/State degree is worth just as much as any other SEC degree (excluding maybe Vandy and Florida of course)...

A&M is #4 just behind UGA. Too close to call (except that US News did).

I thought US News wasn't a legit source, according to the bottom feeders on the rant... even though the top colleges in the SEC love to use it as a marketing tool.

My rival, despite what any legit ranking might say. Isn't that how these threads work?

And why wouldn't they? It's a great marketing tool. Ole Miss always brags about our Forbes ranking, which has us ranked higher than State, LSU, Arkansas, Auburn, Alabama, and Tennessee. I've heard Chancellor Jones say something like "Forbes has Ole Miss ranked as the best public school in Mississippi as well as the best public school among those states which border Mississippi."

In the end, it depends on what you're studying and where your advanced degrees are from. An undergraduate degree isn't that big of a deal anymore, nor are undergraduate degrees from the varying SEC schools all that different (aside from a Vandy degree, perhaps). What really matters is where you get your MBA, JD, MD, PhD, etc. That's really what makes the difference professionally.

Meh, last year we were ahead of both UGA and UF. Those rankings vacillate on the smallest of variables. For all intents and purposes, UF, UGA, and TAMU stand on equal ground.

UGA's AAU, right?

Latest US News rankings:

Vandy (#17)
Florida (#54)
UGA (#63)
Texas A&M (#65)
Bama (#77)
Auburn (#89)

Tennessee (#101)
USCe (#115)
UK (#125)
LSU (#134)

So, if those rankings mean anything to you, Miss. St. is last.
