At first I thought Tennessee hands down...

Lane Kiffin
Derek Dooley
Butch Jones

But then I remembered Alabama...

Mike Dubose
Dennis Franchione
Mike Price
Mike Shula

I’m still going with Tennessee though because as bad as those Alabama coaches were they still won.

Anyone else come close to Tennessee’s euthanizing it’s program?

It has to be TN. They've managed to crush that program.

A school with the resources, history, and prestige managing to hire Dooley, Lyle, and Proot back to back to back is quite frankly on its own level

there was an SEC title thrown in there and a handful of 10 win seasons.

Tennessee's run of 4 coaches including pruitt has amounted to nothing. At all.

I'd argue that just about any coach can win 10 games at bama, given 4 years to do so. I certainly think each of Dooley, Butch, and Pruitt could have.

Honestly I think it's a push, comparing these lists.

Alabama should honestly take this over Tennessee for this alone. When your hire lasts 5 months and is fired for "off-field problems" (putting it delicately) before even welcoming the new recruits in July, that's full tilt turmoil

We did. Dubose won the SEC. Franchione had a good season. Price never coached a game, so he doesn't count. Shula had a good season.

Only at Alabama could Mike Dubose have won an SEC championship, not to mention in the very same year he lost to La Tech...

Dubose won an SEC Title, beat SOS twice in one season (in the Swamp and in Atlanta 35-7).

Fraudchonie won the West but we weren't eligible to go to Atlanta.

Even Shula had at least one 10 win season. He had major 'ship reductions and a ton of severe injuries to deal with:

- QB Croyle - blew knee out
- WR Prothro - broke leg
- RB Castille - blew knee out
- OT Britt - broke leg
- OG Mathis - played with bone/leg issues

Probably forgetting some others.

A SEC title by Dubose. Which is still a more recent SEC title than Tennessee.

And a handful of 10 win seasons as well.

Tennessee's last debacle of a coaching search places them at the pantheon of bad coaching hires.

LSU Curly Hallman should be the answer and the only answer.

Like I said, as bad as those guys were, they still won. I think Tennessee owns this so far.

But let’s not pump those Alabama guys. In 10 years they won 10 games twice and Alabama finished in the top 10 once. No major bowl wins, only one major bowl appearance (Orange Bowl) where they lost to Michigan.

Archer, Hallman, and Dinardo were certainly a run of terrible hires. Although, Archer was able to ride Arnsparger's talent for a few years, and Dinardo recruited well enough for a few decent seasons.
