Many of you know their classic tune, I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles). LINK

The one hit wonder band of the 90s who has dropped down to the level of playing backyard weddings to eager crowds waiting patiently for the chorus to 500 miles seems to resemble a certain SEC basketball program who once struck it big only to disintegrate into irrelevance.

But current irrelevance doesn't stop this SEC school from thinking they're still, well relevant, just as the Proclaimers try to hang onto the glory days by taking whatever backyard gig they're offered.

Now if only a backyard bball tourney would invite Arky, since the NIT invite got lost in the mail.

When was the last time Mizzou "had a hit" in basketball?

When was the last time Arky won in baseball? Oh yeah.

Mizzou is like the band that never sold out, never made that one catchy tune, but instead kept making solid jams for their faithful followers. Still going strong decades later with their creative juices still flowing.

Arky is well.. like the Proclaimers.

Andy Kennedy & his JuCo rental Marshall 'Jason Williams Wannabe' Henderson

If ESPNU did a VH1 'One Hit Wonders' type show..they'd be on it one day..for these last few days work.

So you thought so much of your little comment in the other thread you decided use it to start a new thread?

Sad, sad, sad little buddy.

This Mizzou vs Arkansas rivalry is far more entertaining than anything between Arky and LSU. These guys are down right vicious I think we stopped caring a while ago

That was just the seed my friend. The one hit wonder comment sparked the idea to correlate The Proclaimers with Arky bball and backyard gigs. Getting burned twice is no fun, I get it.

They're just mad because we're not taking rivalry applications at the moment.

Excessive emoticons don't turn a dumb comment into something funny or upsetting.

Other than making little sense in relation to what I said, I could see how it might be enjoyable for you.

And that One-Hit Wonder was using a gimmicky style of music (play) that no longer works, but they continue to believe it does because it worked over 20 years ago.

Yeah, there is a alot to this analogy.
