of the last 21 years is likely to return to that level of success?
Miami - 2001 NC; last won conference title in 2003 (shared); surpassed 10 wins last year for the first time since 2003; played for ACC title in 2017 or at least showed up for it.
Tennessee - 1998 NC; played like contenders in 2001; last won SEC in 1998; last appeared in CCG in 2007; has been on a downward spiral ever since.
Nebraska - 1997 co-NC; last played for NC in 2001; last conference title in 1999; 0-4 in last 4 CCG appearances.
Michigan - 1997 co-NC; last serious NC contention was 2006; last conference title was a share in 2004 and outright was 2003; has had more success in the last several years than the above mentioned but they have other programs in Penn State, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Ohio State that have had equal or way more success in their league.
All are off to a combined (0-3) start with Nebraska yet to play their first game in 2018.

out of all of those, the most likely would be not Oklahoma.

I’m gonna say Nebraska. No competition in state and I’m a big fan of Frost.

I'd say Nebraska will be the first one back.. Frost will bring a lot of passion and energy to the program.
Tennessee is a dumpster fire.
Texas has a lot of internal issues.
Michigan can't win big games. Harbaugh refuses to change. Sounds familiar to another Michigan man.
Miami is just not back and Richt won't win the big ones.

I would have to say Miami. Nebraska is going to have to recruit successfully nationally to have any chance at winning the Big 10, midwestern football is struggling.

Perhaps the Huskers. Frost may be able to resurrect the program.

I'd say none of the above, but....
The easiest place to recruit to of those 4 (having been to all 4 places) is
1) Miami
2) Tennessee
3) Michigan
4) Nebraska

you remember that Mark Richt coaches in Miami right? When was the last big game he ever won? Last week was a typical Richt performance based on his time at UGA.

None are likely to be what they once were... but ranking them in order of likelihood to win another national championship:
1. Miami
The history is there. With the right coach (think what Pete Carroll did at USC), Miami could get their groove back. It's easy to recruit kids who want to play in a happening place like Miami. They are surrounded by tons of talent. And they are in the weak division of the ACC, so the schedule is relatively easy.
2. Tennessee
I give Tennessee a very slight edge over Michigan because the SEC East is much easier to navigate compared to the Big Ten East. One day, Bama will drop off and not be such a tough task.
3. Michigan
Just like Tennessee, they've got huge fan support and tons of resources. Being in the Big 10 East is tough though.
4. Nebraska
In 40 years, folks will likely look at Nebraska similarly to how we look at Minnesota now. How did THAT program win all those National Titles??? I see no hope for the Huskers to ever be anything more than mediocre with an occasional great year with a Top 10 finish. They are miles away from fertile recruiting land.... the weather is cold.... their region of the country is not booming with population growth. I see no way for Nebraska to have hope to get back to what they once were.

Is that really a huge advantage? In the 2019 class, the only have 5 (!) players evaluated on 247. One midrange 4 star, one low 4 star, three 3 stars.
Too many good programs in the B1G...I don't see Nebraska ever getting back. I could see a 10 win season here or there, but nothing more than that.

It's really difficult to argue with an AP national championship - which is exactly what Michigan has from that season. It would have been cool if #1 Michigan and #2 Nebraska could have duked it out on the field, but unfortunately the Rose Bowl was not a participant in the Bowl Alliance.

Nebraska
Frost brings an offense scheme to the Big10 that people don't see often, and that division is not good.

Not a lot of talent in state either. Where's he going to get his players from?

Not right away, but as soon as Saban retires
Miami
May never get to where they were because the south FL cocaine cowboy days (and money) probably never returns. Other schools play thug ball now so that advantage is gone. In their own state they will have UF and FSU to battle for leadership.
Nebraska
Their bread and butter was lots of local walk on and east coast to fill the top recruiting with. Since going the B1G they will have to be under Ohio State and Michigan for the east coast kids because the home office in Chicago caters to their historic teams. Long term, they might wind up being the biggest loser of the last round of realignment.
Michigan
While they have lots of living alumni and lots of history they will never be their former self because it was not real after say the 1950's. In state the Spartans can cause enough problems to keep them down and outside the state the Buckeyes have owned them. With all they have to work with, seems they would have not fallen off since the 80's yet they have.

That’s the point, imagine if he had to deal with someone else in state poaching the little talent that they do have.
