The corpse of Johnny Vaught would be better than Matt Luke. So Kiffin is definitely an upgrade

Considering the Hogs won 3 SEC games in year one under Sam and zero the entire time Chad was here makes Arkansas an easy answer.
Plus the fact he was able to keep Odom after LSU and Texas came after him speaks volumes

I am very happy too that Sam kept Odom since Missouri scored over 50 points against Odom's new defense.

Last Coaching hires for each school:
Alabama: Huge Upgrade
Arkansas: Good Upgrade
Auburn: Downgrade
Florida: Upgrade
Georgia: Same Coach
Kentucky: Upgrade
LSU: Small Upgrade
Miss St: Upgrade
Ole Miss: Good Upgrade
Missouri: About the same, maybe small upgrade
South Carolina: Potential upgrade
Tenn: Maybe a small upgrade if he can recruit, AD upgrade.
A&M: Good Upgrade
Vandy: Doesn't matter because if he's half decent someone will hire him away.
Before Auburn fans start crying:
Your AD is stupid. While you may think Boise St is just another G5 school, that's not actually the case. Boise St has a larger budget than the rest of the G5. They are in the middle between a G5 and P5 for the most part.
So when it comes to their level of competition, they have by far many more resources available. Which is why so many coaches have found success there.
The coach your stupid AD hired: Regularly had 2 or 3 regular season losses. His win% is lower than that of Dan Hawkins, who didn't get the benefit of all the years of Boise St getting in the spot light.
If he can't win at Boise St with all those advantages, he ain't gonna do it in the SEC.
Meanwhile, you fired the coach with the best win rate against Saban in the SEC.

It was an article I saw about 4 or 5 years ago that showed the spending levels of schools. Even in your own link it has links to more recent. Boise St in that is also at the top of the teams they play, but the gap is not as big as what I saw in the other article. Looks like the AAC is bringing in much better revenue these days, results kind of show that.
Also in the article you linked, it's mentions stuff from 2016 and it was doing wins from previous years to justify it(starting in 2006). Thus far Harsin at Boise St had gone 12-2 in his first season, and 9-4 in his second.
If you did the same report over the Harsin era, you would have much different results.
I'll put it this way: Boise St fans are happy Auburn hired him.
Another side note: This is not the first time he has replaced Malzhan as a HC. He did it at Arkansas St as well.
Gus in 2012 Ark St: 9-3 record
Harsin in 2013: 7-5 record

Boise State regular season conference losses, 2017-2020: 2

The fact you had to cherry pick a set of years just for you to ultimately try to compare the MWC to the SEC pretty much highlights how bad this hire is.

Did you forget that you also filtered them down to only conference games?
In 2017 Boise St lost 1 conference game, but 3 games on the year. Losses to Wazzu, Virginia and Fresno St
In 2018 Boise St did the same thing. Losses to Ok St, San Diego St and Fresno St
In 2019 0 conference losses, but lost to BYU and Washington.
Number of ranked wins in this time span? 1. Fresno St finish #19 in 2018. But they also lost to that team at the end of the year in the conference championship game.
You have to go back 21 years in Boise St history to find a coach with a lower win% at Boise St than Harsin.

At Boise State, considering who they play, any conference loss is bad, and any season with more than one loss overall is a down year.

His performance against Saban isn't what cost him his job. IF he had coached against other teams like he coached against Saban he'd likely still be at Auburn. It was the unexplainable losses that got him sent down the road. A coach's success or worth can't be measured by his performances against one coach nor should it ever be

There is a pretty big difference between who Hawkins was playing and who Harsin was playing. I’ll let you try and figure it out.

This is what everyone else besides the Auburn homers already know. Is Harsin a decent coach? In my opinion, yes. However, he did underachieve at Boise, and that is fact.

I don't know that Pittman will ever be elite as a HC or lead Arkansas to glory but I think he will prove to be a great hire for you guys. I like the dude.
Good personality, great recruiter, and seems to be an Xs and Os type that is humble and not stubborn.
