Which is more demoralizing: Unstoppable run game or unstoppable passing game?

Let’s get this out of the way: We are clearly a “run first” team, and pack a good 1-2 punch, but nowhere near being unstoppable.

That being said, I would lean toward the run game. On the face, it seems like the more “basic” side of the game, making it easier to ask “WTF can’t you stop this?”

When you have an offense like the UH Run-and-Shoot of the late 80’s, the perception is that it has so many options and so much complexity that you just can’t catch up to it. Even then, it often gets painted as the QB being All-World a lot of the time, so you can still say you being beaten by unusual talent.

Put in a running game built on repetition, execution, and muscle, though, and I imagine it feels more like you are just being whipped and ground down.

Thoughts?

ETA: At the risk of being banned for posting a poll thread (which I don’t understand, personally), upvote for passing, downvote for running. Use the reply function to express your actual downvote by telling me to keep off-season threads in the off-season.

Passing, the score is such higher and more embarrassing to the loser.

Unstoppable run game because it chews clock and keeps other offense off field.

Run game is more demoralizing. Face a powerful and physical rungame freaking sucks. You are getting blown out and getting the hell beat out of you physically. Passing the football has nothing compared to be curb stamped or blown off the ball repeatedly. Someone tossing you out the club (meaning kicking you arse on the line of scrimmage) sucks

Run game.

As an OM fan i know all about our defense getting ran up and down the field.

Having a team run the ball at will on your sucks way more as a fan than having a team air it out on you.

What do you mean by unstoppable? Running for a 7-8 ypc is miles more different than an option team who can get a solid 4 but WILL get that 4 99 percent of the time. As is having a team that will constantly dink you until you give up the big play in the air, vs having a team that hits you in and outside of the hashes for big yardage but doesn't necessarily hit you over the top.

Out of those 4, I'm taking the 7-8 ypc, especially if it comes in read/veer option form.

Watching a team run the ball up the middle 15 straight times for huge yardage is terrible.

Run game. Usually when a team is dominating on the ground, the defense knows what coming. When a defense knows exactly what's coming, and still can't stop it, that is embarrassing.

Run game.

A great passing game can eventually lead to drops; you can have a poor defense setup and the QB still overthrow the ball.

A great running game just keeps on churning.

Yeah, run game is mentally and physically demoralizing.

Unstoppable passing game is more of a "fuuuck me" feeling that just makes you throw up your hands in disgust. Reminds me of Steve Spurrier's M.O. back in the day (in a good way).

Also keeps the other team in the game longer. What it takes to win championships isn't either-or. it's being balanced at the LOS. If you can do either, when you want to, it also plays to TOP and field position, like the good ole days. A championship offense has to play to its defense folks.

What most teams are missing, year after year, after year, after year, after year.

Run game. If generally comes with a team owning the trench and eating up the time of possession.

Run game

1. Its physical
2. Its draining
3. You can't get in rhythm

I don’t disagree, but it’s not the question I was asking.

This is more about a single game.

Depends on whether you prefer to catch balls or rip them out. What say you?

A hypothetical. I said in the OP I was not referring to our team or season.
