Beast had 2 tackles vs. A&M, including getting absolutely trucked by Achane that everyone saw.
I’ll be shocked (shocked!) if I hear that Jimbo and Dickey—the now FORMER OC—successfully schemed him out of plays.
So did he decide he was minted after 1 game vs. Bama, or is there some insightful reason he was nothing more than a warm body last Sat night?

he got schemed out of plays. He had to follow the motion outside. When he stayed in the box, he got put on his arse.

LSU fans really said he was the best defensive player in the SEC because he played well vs Bama and shut down a 3rd string QB

he is one of the best defensive players in the country for being a true freshman. still learning the position though. he's not a true run stopper/thumper at this point but with experience that can come to him.
he excels in spying/chasing down a QB. when the opposing team runs the ball 50 times a game and only throws 12 times, that isn't really a successful game plan for perkins skill set it seems. best way to negate his talent is to run off tackle with blockers.

Pretty much the scheme thing here. UT did the same thing. With Perkins on the field now we have pretty much been in Nickel packages and rush packages. LSU opted to put the nickel back on the field.
LSU, whatever package, was not ready for Achane. He reversed field on us routinely and caught us overpursuing badly.

Is Perkins primarily a pass rush specialist? I know the quick passes were a big piece of the gameplan.
Achane is a good back. He has speed and quickness and finishes runs with all of his 185 LBs. But with all the yac yards, it looked like poor tackling effort contributed as well.

Yes and is often used as a QB spy. He's one of those guys that has alot to learn but is such a disruptor that you cant keep him off the field. Says alot to game plan around a true freshman.
Achane had a great game but youre right, that was piss poor tackling all night by our defense. Something I wasnt expecting to see at all.
